Praxis: "When is something tactically unsound?" Or, "tactically unsound" compared to what?

As a guy who carried a snubbie Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 Special on his ankle for several years back in the '70s and '80s, I found this discussion consistent with my own experience.

That depends. I have a friend who is still around because of an ankle holster.
He was in the sand box, and his m-4 jammed again. He pulled his Ruger from an ankle holster. He got Haji, before he was hit.
He made it home, because of a small pistol and an ankle holster.

Key point it was his backup, not his main weapon.

Having a backup on the ankle or elsewhere, can mean the difference between being a victim, or a successful dispatcher.
