Logistics: "The Great Ammo Drought."

"In military affairs, quantity has a quality all its own." -- Carl Philipp Gottfried von Clausewitz.
I am indebted to Old Greybeard for sharing an article in the latest issue of Guns & Ammo entitled "The Great Ammo Drought." It is worth the cost of the mag. Short synopsis: There is no conspiracy, just incredible demand. The industry produced 12 BILLION rounds in 2012 and is on track to increase that by a notable margin this year. Factories are going 24-7. Y'all are just buying it up faster than they can produce it, or import it. That ought to tell the "authorities" something, don't you think?

And it doesn't help that the Shrillery State Department is actively blocking or delaying the importation of ammunition and components.

People votin' with their wallets. It's a simple concept. And yes, the evidence suggests that's exactly what continues to keep retail ammo inventories on the lean side.

Uh Total bullshit, None -NOT ONE of the Ammo Factories has been running "24-7" only the smaller ones have even been running to capacity. The ammo industry has done everything it can to slow production and slow imports for two reasons. MONEY, and Obama. Ammo prices are the highest in history-and if government ,the banks and the industry have anything to say they will stay that way. "The Great Ammo Panic" is the best PSYOP ever run by the fedgov. Right now millions of rounds have been "cashed" all over Amerika to be destroyed by water in 90 days time.(burying ammo is destroying it) Millions more lay in the basements of privet homes awaiting pick up by the feds in warrantless "raids". When (or if) history records the "North American Patriot Movement" the caption will read "The Stupid was strong with them" The time for stockpiling a dragons hoard of ammo, weapons and Tacti-cool gear is OVER. It is time to take it out of hiding and use it(if you still can)

Just remember - when the government has all the guns and ammunition, the government will be the only place to get guns and ammunition. Logistics, logistics, logistics!

Sorry I still don't buy it. Yes demand is up. But so is production. From what I can tell imports are up as well and I have been notified by some of the suppliers I use that new shipments have arrived from Eastern Europe. That bodes well for the surplus rifle crowd of which I am one. But we are still seeing issues with the popular calibers and 22 LR. What in the hell is with that. I am seeing 22 LR selling for $8.00 box of fifty. I used to pay that much for a brick of 500. Word arrived last week that the regime claims that DHS has lost 1.6 billion rounds of ammo.Their yearly legal allotment. The National Park Service cannot account for over a thousand weapons and the US Marshall's service has lost 200 or more encrypted radios that could in the wrong hands compromise sensitive operations and let the bad guys listen into plans and cross talk. Really bright this bunch. Imagine what would happen to an FFL holder if he used the excuse that he had lost track of weapons or ammo. Yeah, that's right. Hell to pay. But with these putz's it is business as usual. I still think the Obamaites are up to something and I am still tracking purchases of ammo by regime dept. Although it is getting harder to find information about this. With all the furor the information is being held closer and there is less publication of same.

Maybe if the bloodthirsty Americans, so gung ho on maintaining the occupation of Somewherastan realize the DoD is gobbling up the ammo that should be made available to the us peons, we'd make some headway on getting adequate supplies.

Those 12 billion rounds sure didn't entirely end up in the lockboxes of III%ers

Get your 22LR here. Monitor this site as you surf the net and when a type, price and place come together - hit it! http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/22lr/

Simple math seems so hard for some folks.

12,000,000,000 / 5,000,000 = 2,400.

For example my annual ammunition purchases each year, for the last five years, is greater than the quotient of the division problem shown above. I've been shooting over 6,000 rounds, of various calibers, each year for almost four decades. Really, that amounts to only 500 rounds shot a month.

If having ammunition is important to you then you should have had the foresight to see this current shortage approaching before it actually occurred. Now you've got to pay the price but also be vigilant to never let it occur to you again.

Perhaps some of you know-it-all conspiracy-theorist (look it up) guys can get a job researching and writing for "Guns & Ammo". Good luck with that!

Devildog, you're so far around the bend with that guess that you can't see the bend from where you're at.

Dutchman6,
I don't know what your problem is. I renewed my subscription to Guns and Ammo. If you don't like their publication, don't buy it.
I like knowing who my friends are.
No guess. Just went back and reread the article. Good info, actually.
