With this as an example, there may be hope for the both of us yet, Mike.

Moral of the story: Go down swinging. You might not actually 'go down'.

Waco popped into my head as I was reading about the fear that spread through the ranks of the Redcoats, that patriots weren't taking any prisoners. The government has already shown it doesn't take prisoners, even women and infants. That event will be VERY telling in the future, me thinks. And, it will be long and repeatedly regretted.

His tactics seem a bit flawed but his mindset was spot on... Resistance is not futile.

Thank you for that sir.
Those that ignore their history are doomed to repeat it, and those of us who know our history are doomed to watch.

I am continually amazed by the argument that "we" would be ineffectual against an organized modern army. What they actually mean is that we would face loses and casualties. Of course we would, but if we would all "remove from action" a ratio similar to Capt Whittemore, the war would be over in short course.

As to effectiveness of irregular (but impassioned) forces against a main army, we only need look at;
The Taliban
The Vietcong
The Army of the Confederacy (as operating early war and in specific instances throughout.)
Early American Revolution forces

And on and on throughout history.

Sometimes they were successful and others... not as much.

Keep up the inspiring and education posts. They are well received.

We are seen now by our own government somewhat like the colonists were by the british, ineffective. Perhaps in a fair fight by their standards, the thing they cannot possibly wrap their mind around however is that we have the will to fight...to the death if necessary. And there are far more of us than there are of them. History will indeed repeat itself.

Somewhere in my Civil War cards, I have a picture of a guy who was 80+ years old, and who fought all three days of Gettysburg, and was wounded there several times and lived. I am a little younger than that, but just as ornery. May as well go out with honor.

Sam's is one of my favorite, very danderous old man stories.

'If not US, then who?'

'If not now, then when?'

Liberty Clause- makin' a list and checking it twice...

Todays 'Old Guys' trained with the Garand and M14 and have passing interest in Mossins; Lee Enfields and Springfields ... most have these fancy hunting rifles with years of use so engagement starts at 1,000 yards.

Close Quarters meant the bayonet; though most of us now use the AR as a 300 yard on in secondary and the .45ACP up close.

Hell, a few of us still favour the Sabre!

The thing we can guarantee each other is that should they come, they will never get a free one; like Waco.

Something I think we need to keep in mind is that DC is the center of the power & the center of the culture of corruption. It must be taken & held. DC should be the 1st place for war crimes trials. And, if dicipline can be kept guerilla tactics must prevail. Anderson AF base should be taken & held ASAP to keep the criminals from escaping. It must be done within 3 days or so as that is about all a patriot can carry in the way of ammo, water, food, & other necessary supplies. DC is somewhere about the size of Iwo Jima so roughly 70000 or so patriots would be needed initially.
We need plenty who are sympathetic to the cause & will help with the logistics & help with treating & giving comfort to the wounded.

One of the keys, that some seem to be missing is that the militias had men like former Rangers, Scouts, and even soldiers in them.
We have the same mix today.
We will have Soldiers, Rangers, Scout Snipers, Marines, and other men who were trained by the US Government also.
Us vets, you and I who have served, need to stand up and lead.
Even if we are members of the Gray Haired Brigade.

Although one may become to old to run, one is never to old to stand their ground for the right cause.
