I think Jim Porter is much better for our 2nd Amendment rights than the former NRA president. I notice that the article's writer calls Porter an "extremist", which should show that The NRA is in the process of becoming even stronger in battling for our rights. I want Mike V. to literally shut up with his criticism of The NRA. I don't always fully agree with NRA's position on everything but public criticism only helps the gun-grabbers. This comment was typed in Houston while in attendance at The NRA Annual Meetings. There are an estimated 80,000 in attendance and I'm damned proud to be one of them! I highly respect Larry Pratt and Gun Owners of America but it will be truly a long time before GOA can accomplish that. Best get behind The NRA.
GOOD! I hope this new man is less of a "hands across the aisle" then LePierre. I hope he gives the gun-grabbing libturds fits, shits, and conniptions. There is no more room for "playing nice" with the idiots at the top o' the heap. I also hope that he looks at restructuring how the NRA rates politicians, looking at the bigger picture as well as just the gun-related votes.
Have fun at the convention. I mailed my ballot about a month ago, but I couldn't make it in person. I have to disagree with you about the value of public criticism of the NRA. The MSM will never, ever, ever criticize the us in the way that our host, Mr Codrea, and Mr Pratt criticize the elective and professional leadership. That criticism doesn't weaken us before the MSM because we're already evil incarnate. Taking a hardline can't make us evil-er. We're bloodthirsty terrorists, after all. We cannot possibly compromise enough to gain their respect, if that were worth doing, save by eating our sidearms.
Consider all the snarky 'background checks' cartoons that unoriginal scribblers have churned out since Manchin Toomey went down in flames. They're demonizing all of us, of course, but then we're undesirables to begin with, so it's not a long way to go for them. Where is that snark, and that determination, coming from? There are more of us with less interest in middle ground than ever before. Sole credit does not belong to MVB, Codrea, and Pratt, of course, because the awakening has as much to do with the Tea Party, the Founders, the Framers, and Constitutionalism, as with them. We certainty didn't gain 600K members because they occasionally point out how the NRA leadership sometimes leads from behind.
I'm an NRA member. I say, criticize when it is called for and praise when it is called for. Be sure your your criticisms and praises are accurate and deserved.
And keep in mind that the NRA is the major player defending the Second Amendment in American politics. It's much better to try to influence NRA than to turn against it.

I welcome James Porter, a man with good southern spirit.
