Boy, did he see the future clearly.

Next to Sam Adams, George Mason is my favorite Founder, not the least because as an Anti-Federalist he saw the future so clearly:
"Those gentlemen, who will be elected senators, will fix themselves in the federal town, and become citizens of that town more than of your state." --George Mason, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788
When I come north to break Maryland's new gun laws in the fall, I'll be certain to visit Gunston Hall once more to pay homage to the memory of the man.
