Turkish M1911A1 Clone for FOUR BILLS.

Got an email from a buddy a few minutes ago:
I got this alert from Bud's earlier today. Turkish made 1911 for $399 cash. From the Bud's website:
Tisas 1911-A1 adds a stunning value to this famous reproduction 1911 classic pistol with such high quality materials, workmanship, fit and finish is just what you want. Made in Turkey by Tisas accordingly to international standards such as ISO 9001 and NATO AQAP, also tested in every stage of production for many challenging situations this gun may face. This is the reason Tisas products are very popular worldwide by delivering reliability.
By using cold hammer forged stainless steel barrel, Military Specification black finish (parkerized), with beautiful Turkish walnut grips, hard plastic case, this makes Tisas 1911 .45 ACP a stunning deal all around . America’s new 1911 is here ….
Comes with an 8 round magazine. Looks like a great deal.

Being a good deal depends on whether you can find ammo in sufficient quantities to make it worthwhile.

OH MY!! It has a PISTOL GRIP so it must be one of those EVIL Assault Weapons. It MUST be BANNNED. However I am looking at a comparison of the TEN BIG "KILLERS" in the U.S. Compiled by the Centers for Disease Control & other Fed Gov sources that show Firearm Homicides are a Staggering 11,493 but nobody cares about the529,000 deaths from TOBACCO. Don't even think about mentioning the 195,000 dead from MEDICAL ERRORS. The Lowbrow thinkers (if you wanna call them thinkers) buy the BS line about firearms "hook line & sinker" while they smoke their cigs and sip (or chugalug) their booze (107,400 deaths from Alcohol Abuse). Motor Vehicle Accidents are 3 times that of firearm homecides (34,485) yet I haven't heard ONE PEEP about banning the JEEP or the HUMMER which came from the military vehicles design. Just my 2 cents worth. Steve

Every one of these that have crossed my bench are very high quality.
(I bought two as a basis for my own carry guns.)

However I recommend polishing the feed ramp and throat on these. I generally recommend this on most standard production guns.
However the majority of these that have come through the shop have been rough in these areas.

Happy is right about quality. I have another model (dist by ATI) made by them and the mill work and metal is excellent with the exception of some cast areas in the upper mag throat. One problem is that I tried to contact Tisas by email several time to get backup springs and different grips and nothing. In the U.S. Tisas's stuff seems to come in and then disappear without parts being left behind. So, your option may boil down to buying a donor from the auction houses like GB.

Why would you need to go back to Tisas for springs and parts?

If they're in spec then any of the host of 1911 vendor parts out there ought to fit.

One very important item you might consider "SUFFICIENT" quanities of ammo....8 rounds from a M1911-A1 can kill 8 bad guys. No shootin' through them, leaving wounds but no life threats.....that's why Browning created the M1911A1 .45 auto pistol.
Boys in the Phillippines would suck up some s*** and a .38 would not stop them..but the good ol' M1911-A1 danged shore did. What would be your desire for amount of ammo? 1000 rounds? 500 rounds? Get what you can, but be aware when the SHTF that ol' .45 will save your a$$...

Is there a company that is importing these .45s? You know the dogeater killed a Korean return of M1 Garands, M1 Carbines and .45 auto pistols thanks to hillary....ain't she the best..spit!

They take every standard 1911 part I have ordered from Brownells with little or no fitting.
I recommend the 8 round Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick mags. One more dose of anti stupid medicine before mag change.
They cost more but I have never had a hiccup with them.
