David Codrea: 'Tea Partier' Jim Holmes calls ABC tie-in on Batman shooting ‘blatantly lazy’

"An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect," ABC News said in a statement. "ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted."

Holmes needs to sue the bastards into the poorhouse for subjecting him to abuse, harassment and threats.

At least they apologeize for their jumping the gun and screwing up.

It's not laziness, it's SOP. Blame the right immediately, and later retract. But you've already fixed in listeners' heads the notion that your political opponents are potential terrorists. Mayor Bloomberg did the same with the 2010 Times Square bombing, Clinton with Oklahoma City.

Nasty, dishonest, and unscrupulous, but not lazy.

Glenn Beck did a pretty good job skewering the ABC News reporting policy of presenting unverified information:
