Just in case you run into someone who doubts that DHS is a secret political police agency.

EPIC v. Department of Homeland Security: Media Monitoring
EPIC - FOIA Documents Reveal Homeland Security is Monitoring Political Dissent: As the result of EPIC v. DHS, a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, EPIC has obtained nearly thee hundred pages of documents detailing a Department of Homeland Security's surveillance program. The documents include contracts and statements of work with General Dynamics for 24/7 media and social network monitoring and periodic reports to DHS. The documents reveal that the agency is tracking media stories that "reflect adversely" on DHS or the U.S. government. One tracking report -- "Residents Voice Opposition Over Possible Plan to Bring Guantanamo Detainees to Local Prison-Standish MI" -- summarizes dissent on blogs and social networking cites, quoting commenters. EPIC sent a request for these documents in April 2004 and filed suit against the agency in December.
So, does that make General Dynamics a legitimate target if the federal government begins to wage war on the people? Just askin'.

How a conversation with me ends when someone brings up DHS and says what a great thing it is. "What to do you mean it's a good thing and does a good job? It's a government bureaucracy with it's head so far up it's ass it couldn't find it's cheeks with a map a flashlight and a goddamn GPS unit! Oh and by the way? we HAVE a Department of Homeland Security already. It's called the US Military! So pray tell me oh genius of geniuses...what the HELL do we need ANOTHER ONE FOR!!"

'but they tie all that together and make the agencies cooperate.

It's at that point that I usually walk away...while muttering about bleach and the gene pool under my breath

It is beyond question or plausible deniability that Janet Napolitano has absolutely no moral regard for her solemn oath of office. Like soooo many others in government, he probably figures he's on his way to hell anyway, so what's the big deal. Totalitarian scum like Obama, Napolitano, John Pistole, Mueller and others, may win for a while, but immoral people are doomed. They will eventually lose, both in this life and the next! It is written. So, let them keeping pushing us into a civil war. The outcome is not in doubt, though costly for both sides.

Gee, now why would the government consider that they need to know what the public is thinking so badly, that they need to monitor the content of communications between citizens and thus abrogate their constitutional rights?

The answer is that they need to anticipate the public's actions and reactions in regard to their actions in order to contain and manipulate them so that they may control the situations they desire. There will be mission creep and then every bad thing you can imagine will transpire. There is no question that this will happen because these people have proven their untrustworthy natures and given power they seek to expand and abuse it to the maximum possible extent. So, they need to monitor the public.

You know we keep having to learn this lesson over and over and there are always dead bodies involved due to "security" concerns.

The Soviets have nothing on us now. We will surpass them and I suspect that our cruelty will as well. They are trying to survive by anticipation and IDENTIFICATION, which allows them to preempt, interdict and suppress the population and to be their masters. They of course will deny it but they are liars and they lie very well and convincingly, using tax dollars to fund it all.

That's because they haven't really begun. Once they start zipping their own into body bags, they won't look quite so confident.
