If the stories they have concocted don't make sense there is a reason. They are lying...

Did it in any way make sense for these [people to do these things, run guns into Mexico and central America, for the reasons they state? No, it does not.

Therefor the reason it was done cannot be related to the reasons the give as motivation. Therefore, what was their motivation?

Treason.
