Rather reminds one of the Ceausescu's downfall.
Could it happen here?

I don't know who besides myself took the time to watch the first part of the video - the one about the giant hornets attacking a (cultivated) hive of European honeybees. In that video 30 giant hornets slaughtered 30 THOUSAND bees and plundered the nest for the bee larvae in that nest. You really should watch both of the videos.

In the first (in the original series) video the hornets, impervious to the bees' offensive weaponry, achieved a kill ratio of 1,000 to 1. Rather like a unit of tanks attacking a poorly led and disunited infantry formation lacking in anything heavier than rifles. The slaughter would be massive and inevitable.

In the 2nd video (the one to which Mike linked), a different group of bees, united and using a weapon specifically designed for their enemy, neutralized the enemy scout and remained undiscovered.

The opfor will initially have superior weapons though (hopefully) inferior numbers. There will undoubtedly be one sided engagements such as the hornets' attack of the European honeybees' hive. But the insurgents' weapons inferiority will - hopefully - be short lived. Also, the insurgents should be able to devise tactics to take advantage of their superior numbers and any other advantages.

It's gonna get MEAN, friends, it's gonna get mean! I anticipate total loss of life in North America to be in the TENS if not HUNDREDS of millions both directly from loyalist troops' activities and indirectly from famin caused by the collapse of order and the continental transportation network. Casualties world wide will surely be in the hundreds of millions if not BILLIONS after the world-wide transportation network collapses. The full fledged Malthusian catastrophe that will inevitably ensue will be the end of western civilization and the world as we know it.

Heaven help us. Our enemies are constitutionally incapable of conceiving of the consequences of their actions. They will never see it coming.

Heaven help us all!

Could some form of general collapse of society happen here?

Two schools of thought seem to prevail. First group thinks chaos will never come to the USA because they've never seen it. Even the non-religious seem to think we're somehow God's chosen people. The other group seems to think Armageddon is inevitable and want everyone around them to prepare.

But what you don't see very much of is people saying the collapse could be right around the corner, that the fools we elect to high office will cause it, and offering concrete suggestions on what we can and should do right now to convince them to stop.

Remember that the Lexington militia formed up on the green with the intent to show the regulars that they were under observation. But events quickly spun out of their control or that of the regular's officers. If we get a revolution it will not be in a way that anyone expects. How do we convince our own government to take a step back from the brink in such a way that we don't cause what we hope we can avoid?

Or is it all inevitable?

Mike, I think many watch this video and wonder just how an unorganized group of bees would be able to organize, communicate, and recognize one another in an emergency. Maybe you could post links to some helpful educational articles or videos on this subject.
Here's an article about another fascinating phenomena of the animal kingdom:

One wonders what defense the prey of an anglerfish could employ to avoid being tricked.
An interesting subject of which greater knowledge would benefit many people.

I would just add something to my earlier comment about this article:
I think the article is mistaken when it says the aggresive mimicry doesn't "intentionally" deceive its prey - some species are proven to use deception to capture prey.
