Roger Hedgecock uses the "I" word.

Impeachment. Personally, I don't think, given certain spineless GOP realities, that impeachment is in the cards. This is, however, likely a game-changer. I DO think a full exploration of the truth of the Gunwalker Scandal will:

1. Remove Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and perhaps Hillary Clinton and Robert Muller as well (don't forget the cover-up of the circumstances of Terry's murder is an FBI operation). Lesser lights (Restrepo, Melson, Breuer, some ATF & DOJ managers and attorneys) have an excellent prospect of federal prison, especially if they don't roll now.

2. Deliver a huge blow to both the citizen disarmament agenda and the legitimacy of the Imperial Federal Leviathan.

3. Wreak organizational havoc in the bureaucratic instruments of the Leviathan for as long as a decade. The next time somebody gets a hair-brained scheme, someone will say, "Yeah? Remember Gunwalker?"

4. And, incidentally, make Barack Obama a one-term president.

No one with half a brain will trust anything these discredited Mandarins say for a long, long time. Even if we fall short of impeachment, or even prison time for the central Gunwalker conspirators, the struggle will have been worth the effort.

Failure to deal with Gunwalker, then, will be the ultimate, utter, completely discrediting failure of the entire federal system of Leviathan crafted over the past hundred years. Whatever comes next, then, will use the failure of justice in the Gunwalker scandal as a predicate.

For our part, we will have done our best to make the system work and hold it to the account of its own pretended rules. The failure will not then be because we didn't try, and whatever happens afterward, however bloody, will not be upon our hands, but theirs.

Harebrained is correct usage.

As if they actually care. Or how do YOU think the "News Media" and the "Historians" will record it?

Another interesting dynamic to watch play out is the "new media" effect.

The CWL has many more tools (such as this blog) at its disposal than in the mid 1990's.

The converse of that is the "old media" is much more in the tank for the current administration than the one back then. No one was comparing Clinton to God. I've heard that comparison made this time by so-called "authorized journalists".

The cold war battlespace is very different this time. I have my popcorn at the ready.

Unfortunately most voters have much less than half a brain.

My concern is not for what "we" know should happen considering the obvious corruptions/lawbreaking/cover-up..., rather for what is politically expedient and how far the tendrils reach from the prospective of circling the wagons and scapegoating a few to save the "process" and the "powerful".
Remember the press hated Nixon. Without press coverage, as scandal doesn't really exist no matter the severity of the abuse.

The only problem is President Joe Biden....

My concern is not for what "we" know must happen considering the degree of law breaking, corruption, cover-up..., rather how deep and far the tendril reach. Reaching far enough might just create enough pressure to circle the wagons and scapegoat a few to preserve the "powerful".

Remember the press HATED Nixon and he was crucified for it.

In this situation there may never truly be a "scandal". At least not that the general populace will notice. Without (MSM) press coverage there really isn't a scandal no matter the severity of the abuse.

He who has the "gold" makes the rules, he that wins also does the writing of "history".

I used to listen to the "Recovering politician" every day from Camp Pendleton. Posted.

I hope you are right, Mike, but I'm afraid that most of the public remains unaware and/or unconcerned about this debacle as it plays out. We who are concerned about our freedoms, and about a government out of control are paying great attention to this, but I don't see such a reaction out of the general populace.

I hope that changes. I work on changing it in my own small way, with those who read what I write and re-post from much better writers such as yourself and David. I long so much for some of these miscreants to suffer some serious consequences for their corruption and arrogance, their abuse of our country, our Constitution and our citizens. Not to escape those consequences like Janet Reno, James Cavanaugh, Lon Horiuchi, and so many others.

How can you even possibly imagine that HE is not at least neck-deep in this as well?

I keep hoping for some of them to resign using the Bud Dwyer method.

I'd buy tickets for that...

Mike,

I believe you and David have done a superb job of getting this story out. I hope you are correct about the consequences but I'm not seeing much in the way of progress. Issa let himself be stonewalled a long time. It is my belief that the plan is to drag this out long enough that many people forget about it and no longer care. With the small attention span of the average citizen and average gun owner, it won't take long for this to be forgotten.

For Dedicated_Dad:
If that appears to happen, expect that they will have been "Vince Fostered". But then I am certain that "Law Enforcement" will do a thorough investigation and report EXACTLY what happened. Just as they did with Mr. Foster.

The stench is overwhelming.
