Been chasing new clues and sources.

Exhausted, so it will be tomorrow until I do any serious posting. But of course around here "tomorrow" is up before the cows.

In response to GOA's call for a Congressional investigation of “Project Gunwalker” on February 23 of this year (http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-national/gun-group-calls-for-house-investigation-of-project-gunwalkerApril 5, 2011), I immediately contacted my House representative.

Today, I (finally!) received this reply:

Dear [Malthus],

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter.

The ATF is the lead federal law enforcement agency charged with protecting our communities from dangerous illegal activities including the illegal use and trafficking of firearms. As you know, some have raised concerns for the ATF's "Operation Gunrunner" program which traces firearms sold to "straw purchasers" that in turn supply them to Mexican drug cartels. I share your concerns for the safety of our border patrol agents and those living on our county's southwest border, and I have contacted the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about holding hearings on this issue.

Again, thank you for contacting me, and please feel free to do so in the future if I may be of assistance.

Sincerely,

[Your Congress critter]

My representative is hard-left, so this development is a pleasant surprise.

Keep pushing, Mike. We are beginning to gain traction.

MALTHUS
