No surprises. Business as usual. It's still the District of Criminals - just a few new faces.

What's the saying? "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Disappointing but no surprise. The old dogs make it pretty clear that the puppies will play by the established rules or they and their family members will not be invited to parties and they won't be appointed to serve on prestigious committees.

The congress reminds me of a large chicken yard. The fowls are so busy with maintaining the established pecking order that they completely ignore the lurking foxes among them.

Scott Wong is just so, well...wong. ;^)

Keep in mind that "Politico" is a leftist political journal. They very much want to taint the recent Republican victory.

Nationwide, 700 new Republicans took office. The political Left has lost traction, but the Senate is slow to take advantage of it because they still represent a minority.

In the House, where Republicans enjoy majority status, Tea Party candidates are far more vocal.

Some of the new Republican Senators will indeed prove to be turds, but can anyone make a serious argument that Pat Toomey (against whom George Bush campaigned) is not vastly preferrable to Arlen Specter or that Rand Paul will not continually threaten Mitch McConnell's right flank?

The new Congress has been in session for what, six whole weeks now? As big as the Capitol Complex is, most of us would still be trying to find the bathrooms.

It takes a lot of time, by real time human standards, to learn how to get even very basic processes into motion. Truth be told, how many of us have gone into new jobs and six weeks later, gotten some real things accomplished?

Let's give them a chance. Yes, at least a few will prove themselves to be politicians rather than public servants, but some of them may turn out to be real leaders.
