Will DOJ get its dick caught in a "leadership vacuum" if Traver nomination heads for suicidal confirmation hearing? We scoop the lame-stream media.

The Traver nomination: Dancing naked around a "leadership vacuum" on the Washington Mall.
Al Kamen, writing in The Washington Post the same day the Brady screed on a "directionless ATF" came out, finally notices Andrew Traver:
Try, try again at the ATF

The Obama administration, just 18 months old, may be about to nominate someone to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Buzz is the leading contender is Andrew Traver, who now heads the agency's Chicago office.

If approved, Traver would be the first-ever Senate-confirmed ATF director. The position had been filled (at the Treasury Department and more recently at Justice) without Senate input. Since it became Senate-confirmable in 2006, seems no one has made it past the watchful eyes of the gun lobby.

Senate Republicans, led by Sens. David Vitter (La.), Michael Crapo (Idaho) and former senator Larry "Wide Stance" Craig (Idaho), blocked President George W. Bush's nominee, Boston federal prosecutor Michael Sullivan, saying he was not sensitive to the needs of small gun dealers. He was acting director until January 2009. The current deputy director, Kenneth E. Melson, was acting director for a while and now runs the agency as deputy director.
Robert Farago, writing at The Truth About Guns, headlines this as "Obama Administration Caves to Brady Campaign on Traver ATF Nomination."

I'm not so sure. Yeah, it is certain that the Brady Bunch's pressure caused somebody at Main Justice to name-drop to Kamen to show that they weren't entirely asleep at the wheel as "Leadership Vacuum" was released with great wailing and gnashing of citizen disarmament teeth.

But the question is still the one I've been asking since we scooped everyone on this story a month ago:

If there is a "leadership vacuum," does Eric Holder really want to get his dick caught in the wand at a sensational public confirmation hearing that highlights their appetite for citizen disarmament JUST BEFORE AN ELECTION?

We already know that DOJ is worried about Traver's strong ties to the virulently anti-firearm Joyce Foundation.

As well they should be.

As well they should be, indeed.

The Brady Bunch will no doubt claim credit for pressuring the Obamanoids into responding to their "Leadership Vacuum" demand by finally dropping Traver's name.

The question is, will Eric Holder be stupid enough to whip out his schmeckel and risk a public embarrassment that will certainly have negative electoral consequences? How badly does the Chicago Gang want absolute control over the ATF? And how much are they willing to risk?

Mike, This is the second deranged midget image that you have posted in a very short period of time. Please stop. The "Anchor Baby" seems to have imprinted itself on the back of my eyelids. I'm afraid to close my eyes. Now I'm afraid this latest one is hiding in my broom closet, fondling my vacuum.

I nearly choked on my breakfast when I read where Travers said that "assault-style" weapons were "so difficult to control, their bullets often get sprayed beyond the intended targets, striking innocent victims even when they’re in their own homes."

How does one go about "spraying" bullets with a SEMI-AUTOMATIC weapon?

I did like the line about such weapons being dangerous for cops. Actually, cops only have to worry about getting shot by criminals. PIGS, on the other hand . . . they're the ones need to be afraid of regular folk. (Any LEO that confiscates guns fro law-abiding people is a Pig by definition) I have read that inside of 30 yards a metal jacketed 7.62/308 will go through just about any body armor out there. Is that so? Anyhow that's why I got a semi-automatic .308. Figure it'll put paid to a deer AND to varmints - both 4 and 2 legged varieties.

Oops, almost forgot.

I guess I'm dense today, but how will ties to the Joyce Foundation be bad for Traver before a Democrat controlled Senate? It would appear to me to be a plus for a would-be head of the BATFE.

Could you explain it to me? And I am not an Obama Zombie or leftist plant or anything like that. It just does not appear TO ME to present a problem given the makeup of the Senate.

It's good that, thanks to sites like this, our Overseers once again HAVE to worry about embarrassment. I think enough people are waking up now. It matters again.

What about the President's much stronger ties to the Joyce Foundation?

He was a director, before he decided that leadership positions in marxist organizations might count against him some day.
