An excellent tutorial in how to spot a fake active duty/veteran

Thanks to Pete at WRSA for this link to a an encounter with a fake soldier. Remember, ATF and other agencies often send in their agents/CIs dressed as something they are not designed to get the weak-minded to follow them. If in doubt, ask an active duty for his ID, or a veteran for his DD-214.

Ran into ONE of these once when I asked for his DD-214 he didn´t know what I was talking about or at least acted like it. What a joke someone would try to pull off something like that.

at first I thought this was a joke of some kind. Seeing how crappy the guys shirt fits from 20 feet back.(unless a chairforce guy)
Heck, when I was active duty, the base commander was suck a fuckin' prick we had to drive on base in civilian clothes, THEN change into our greens for morning muster.(had to change back to leave too)
20+ years later I STILL can't comprehend being off base in my daily greens!!

I know, I know, 'everyone' is a SF guy these days (rolling eyes)

his gut should have been enough to give away that he was bogus.

"Yeah I carry this radio around all the time so "my guys" can get a hold of me from anywhere in the world. You never know when your country will call upon you."

I imagine him telling some unsuspecting gopher that.

I'm greatful the gentlemen called him out and "dressed him down". I hope the Travis AFB decal is followed up on.

That guy is insane. Why? WTF was he even thinking? He even has a fake DOD sticker on his car. I would love to see him try and get onto that AFB with it and without out the proper ID!

If you want to be a member of the armed forces so bad chubby, get on a f'ing treadmill and then head to your nearest enlistment office. Don't pretend to be what you are not, even if you get a special discount.

Also Army sticker and AFB sticker?! Really!

I will restrain myself and stop there. This man is mentally disturbed and should be locked in an institution complete with padded walls and serious anti-psychotics.

I think the guy is mentally ill.

The creepy thing was how he got the base parking pass. Other than that, there are better things for the Revenuers to focus on, if you get led on by these fools, you have it coming to you.
Better we have it this way than have the wearing of plain unmarked BDUs become a felony. I mean who honestly thinks that someone can be Robot Forces and MP at the same time?

I've seen two or three links around on the various boards about this jackass today. Shameful.

The Trainer said...

Yeah...we've seen a few of them in our AO....typical poser's profile:

Military background:

Sniper OR SF OR Airborne Ranger (usually 82nd) OR SEAL OR Force Recon, etc, etc....never just a regular clerk-typist or MP, or Medic or wrench turner....(go figure)...

Then, you see them on the range, and they can't clear a simple malfunction in whatever weapon they're shooting, usually an AK series....then, when you get into combatatives, they don't know their left foot from their right...

Then, they tell 'war stories' about how they blah blah blah blah...

Then, they start talking about Silver Stars, but when questioned, don't know what a DSC is...

Then, when you ask for a 214, it was inevitably lost in a 'house fire'...and when you tell them that if they followed the law and military guidance, they would have filed a copy with their County Registrar.....PANIC sets in...

These guys are really a pain in the ass...

This fat sloppy looking guy in NO WAY could have EVER been a soldier.

I have a special hate for fakes. I can't imagine with his 52 inch waist line how he thought he could get away with that one.

Heh. I want to know where he got those dang XL ACUs! I've been looking in swap meets, junk stores, flea markets, and gun shows for years for something that'll fit my 38-40" waist and long legs and the only ones I ever see are medium/regular and medium/short.

Poser are an annoyance. I think my ex-wife let her next husband know about my military record, and some of the things that she knows that I was involved in. So when I finally meet her husband he says "so I hear you were in the Army." I agree, and then he tells me about his life as a Vietnam era SEAL. So I asked him how many swim buddies he had at SEAL school, and he said one. I just said OK, and then he asked me what I did in the Army, and I told him that I washed hum-vees, and run a buffer in the barracks. He just shook his head, and we ended our military talk. He knew he had been had.

I don't like posers, but hey, what the hell. Those guys are pithetic all on their own. I'd never make a scene calling a poser out, but you can let them know that are full of shit, fairly easily.

I don't get these people. Why, oh why, do they insist on playing out their Walter Mitty fantasies in public?

You always run the risk of running into the real deal (and God help you if you run into an actual Special Ops type), plus all the knowledgeable 'milgeek' types who happily read up on that sort of thing. They may not have passed the physical, but chances are they know a hawk from a handsaw.

Not too many vets carry a DD214 in their wallets. Retired military ID
or a VA medical card are more likely.

Man has some serious self esteem issues. Posing at a place where he's bound to be made.... ya just gotta wonder about some people....

Where this is dangerous is in the event he shows up someplace "to assist my brothers".
Puuhleeez.... he'll get a few killed before his gray matter darkens on the pavement....

I'm glad this made your site, Mike. I emailed you about it yesterday hoping we could bring enough attention to this scum. I also a normal poster on that website, GeorgiaPacking.Org.

Thanks for your help man! We all appreciate it. Hopefully we can get this scumbag caught and in big legal trouble.

This "maroon",as Bugs Bunny would say, needs a good old fashioned ass-whooping.If he wants to play soldier,he can play a disabled one.

You have got to admit that the FBI was pretty stupid to take orders for two and a half days from a guy who said he was a Captain and claimed to be in charge, and the agents didn't even ask for identification.

and what is the deal with the missing classified documents that he took from the real (and dead) Captain?

I caught this yesterday from another site as well as reading your link.
Georgia Packing should have stripped the uniform off this asshole down to his stinking skivvies.
It will be interesting to continue to follow up on this maggot & see what happens.

Interesting. Could be a wannabe or something more sinister. Regardless, little soldier boy reminds me of something I've been curious about for a while now. During the '08 campaign, the current resident of the White House spoke many times about a civilian defense force (just as large, just as well equipped, yada, yada, yada). We don't hear jack about it now-nothing.

Shouldn't we be watching what the other hand is doing?

Hell, the fact that the guy was as big as he was should have been a dead giveaway right there. It may have changed since I was in the service, but the military used to have weight limits, and this guy obviously exceeds them.

I am a disabled vet, and anyone who wants to see my dd-214 can go blow smoke up their ***, It shows my ssn, birth date etc..., I may show them my VA medical ID which only has my name on it. Other than that a real Vet should be able to tell when he is talking to another Vet.

The Navy is blessed with lots of these poseurs, because of the mystique of the SEALs. A friend of mine who retired as a genuine SEAL can take one of the fakes apart in a millisecond.

Then there's all the "Intel officers," etc. etc.

I have no patience at all with the fakes, for I sweated blood to get through what little I did in the Navy, as did the rest of you in your various services, and I have no need for admiration or recognition. The fakers of course want the glory without the blood. They are typical in many ways of most of society these days in wanting attention but being unwilling to pay the dues.

Mall ninja all the way, but impersonating a military officer, especially police, is criminal. And that Travis AFB sticker is gonna get him 5 to 10 if it's a fake.

And I'm a vet, but I don't carry around my DD-214. And I wouldn't show it to anyone anyway. But at least I know what a DD-214 is. I also have a VA medical card that would work.

Anonymous said...

The correct punishment for these types would be 12 months serving a VA ward 24/7.

Wonder why he stopped where he did? I'm sure there is a source somewhere on the web to obtain a CMH.

Last time I even glanced at my DD214 I was buying a house... That was 12 years ago...

I don't need paperwork to "verify" a vet. 2 minutes of conversation, that's it...

PioneerPreppy said...

Ya I don't carry my 214 around nor my old ID card (Although I just found out an old ID card will get ya a discount at lowes).

But then again I don't wear a fake uniform into general population either. Or even parts of one.

Well, may as well throw in a differing opinion, sorta.

The guys they call out on Stolen Valor and This Ain't Hell, typically, are malevolent bastards who use their fake mil cred to get into high profile social events, gather respect for social or political purposes ( like that filthy commie bastard from IVAW, David Kokesh running for office as a vet... yeah, and a big wheel in an anti-American, anti-vet group like IVAW!! ) or to get their picture in a magazine, etc.
Those are the guys who hold my utter contempt... they know what they are doing in a calculated effort to deceive people for their personal gain.
BUT -
I put guys like this is a different category. He IS obviously mentally ill; it is likely that he was physically or mentally unfit for service but it seems that he admires / wants to be part of the military 'culture' prevalent around gun shows, etc. I don't know, maybe I'm just getting soft and mellow in my years... but I think he intended no harm but wanted to feel like a part of something that he couldn't manage to get into. I think he DOES need counseling but not wall-to-wall, rather, a shrink.
Just my two cents' worth.

Apparently, ample authority has been attracted to rid us of this mentally unstable individual.

His history is full of malfesence and deception. He was the fake 'Captain' of the OK I-40 bridge collapse and has been in club fed before.

Hopefully the authorities will get him to a cushioned room where only men in white coats visit...

We've got two of these guys running around in central IA. They're even showing up at Republican meetings and small events touting themselves as Purple Heart SF veterans just out of Walter Reed. One of them limps around on a cane at high school football games. Pathetic.

I know some state representatives got their photo taken with one of these D-Bags and some serious PR damage control had to be done after-the-fact before any of the photos wound up in the media.

Watch out in Grinnell, Tama or Newton IA for these terds.
