Well, well. Fort Knox finally deigns to answer my letter.

Sort of. This comment was left to my original post.

Fort Knox has left a new comment on your post "The Fort Knox Contretemps. . "

Unauthorized scenario information concerning current political issues were added to a planned emergency response exercise held at Fort Knox on April 27. The official exercise script used by the Installation Command Post during the exercise included no reference to the Tea Party movement, political parties or political issues. Fort Knox leadership takes this situation seriously and regrets any misunderstanding this may has caused. An official investigation has been initiated to determine the manner in which this information was included in the exercise scenario. Fort Knox leadership is committed to continued positive associations with our community groups and organizations and will continue to work to enhance and improve those elationships.

More on this later.

Let's keep a sharp eye on this but let it play out before deciding whether this was some junior officer who wanted to "sex up" the exercise. I would, however, if I were the commander of such an individual, make sure that he/she got the message that injecting his/her political prejudice into such an exercise was serious, serious, unacceptably bad judgment and make them pay dearly for their mistake.

What's that, Winston? Doublespeak?

Typical Public Affairs, field grade officer mumbo-jumbo.

When the SHTF it will be commissioned officers like the d-bag who wrote that reply who will order Americans fired upon.

Yea, right. And the Marines are only kidding when they tell you can not join them with a Confederate Battle Flag inked on your skin.

And gosh dern-it ... such a kidder:

Congressman: Tea Party 'One of Largest Threats to our Internal Security'...

See people, freedom, liberty, and individual freedom MUST give way ... YOU are in the way.

I've said elsewhere that the enlisted and NCO's will be largely on the roght side of things, not all, but most. The careerist officers are the one's who'll be strung up for treason.

And it will be real war fighters who seen the elephant, who know what they are supposed to defend and protect, who will shoot those ring knocking, ticketing punching, self serving, tyranny loving ca rearists.

Or so I will hope, trust and pray.

Dan: I'm not so sure.

Most enlisted haven't a clue - they follow orders instinctively. They won't feel good about it, but they'll do it.

I've had some long conversations with NCOs - some 20+ year guys - about this, and they were unanimous in this statement.

It's the Officers and NCOs we need to reach - they're the ones who will make it happen if it can be done, if it MUST be done.

I'm still praying this is all an exercise that will be proven by history to have been productive but unnecessary...

Depending on soldiers to make the right decision when given an illegal order is a luxury we can't afford. Some are on our side, but we have to assume that a sizable portion are not.

So hope for the best, but depend on nothing but your own arms.

Dedicated Dad on May 6, 2010 9:43 PM,

Ultimately we really don't know who within the US military we can trust. What I DO know is that the bulk of commissioned officers (98%)of them are products of ROTC programs at colleges/universities which, just by their nature, are bastions of liberalism. This environment are where the future commissioned officers are being "educated". Ultimately, they become products of their collegiate environments. Certainly the time spent on campus involved with ROTC cadre is much, much less than the time and influence spent in the classrooms of unrepentant, leftist professors.

Ultimately, we really don't know which way the military will roll. But my experience with Noncoms is that they'll tell the snot-nosed O-2' and O'3s to take a flying fornification !

As my lawyer tells me often: "It's a crap shoot !"
