GOP congresscritters Mike Pence and Cathy McMorris Rodgers ask the question: Why are we bailing out Greece?

It can't be because we expect them to return the favor.

Why would we spend a single dime on a country of communists and socialists that has been openly hostile to the US for the last, oh, I don't know, 65 years?

We are heading to a World Wide Depression and all that the U.S. Government is doing is throwing gas on the fire.
When the social systems suffer the final break down there will be fighting in the streets of All the Major Cities Across the Land. And when this happens the Government will be forced to Fire the First Shot, not at the Patriots that have been warning of this and prepairing for it but at the collectivist minions that have supported them.

Maybe to make us feel less guilty about our own spending?

It's just a distraction technique. Look at the jets of flame and the thundering image, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Hey, we've already helped them plenty in the 20th century.

I've been to Greece a couple of times, back in the 1970's. The politics in that country were so volatile that we were specifically cautioned to travel in groups and avoid locals who wanted to berate us for being Americans.

One side blamed the Americans (read CIA) for supporting the "Colonel's Junta" in the name of NATO unity and anti-communism, (we did) and the other side blamed us for bringing down the Colonels in the name of human rights. (We didn't.) They've been anti-American since then, mostly because of the brutality of the Junta, even though we gave them substantial aid during WWII, and during their subsequent civil war against the Russian-supported Greek communists in '46-'49.

Like almost all easterners, they're a turbulent people. When confronted with an irascible Greek, I just shrug my shoulders and say "Λυπάμαι, δεν καταλαβαίνω." (Sorry, I don't understand.)

We are not bailing out Greece -- we are once again having the taxpayers bailout the corrupt financial institutions. The people of Greece will still have their benefits reduced and will be serfs to that debt for decades to come. This is no different than the AIG fiasco where the people bailed out AIG only to find a large part of the money when to make foreign banks whole. The German people must be thrilled about this.

Gaviota, OUTSTANDINGLY said. I am an AMERICAN of Greek decent. I know how they are in Greece. I go every year. They should be ashamed to call themselves Greek. There is an old saying and it is very true. The American Greek has more love for his Greek ethnicity and his Church, Religion. They have more love for this GOD blessed country the United States. I will not be going this year for the first time in many many years. I was told NOT to by a monk on Mt. Athos who I correspond with. The residence on Mt. Athos even say that the Greeks in the U.S. have shown more love and support for their monasteries abroad than the Greeks in Greece. My friends, we are probably going to be given a bad dose of something big soon. It will be purposely done to make it appear as if it was an enemy. BUT! it will be them. To distract us! And then they will do things to us that nobody will have never imagined. My uncle, 92,WW2 vet USMC, Pacific Theater, retired NYPD 1stGrade detective, 1946-1981.Gets around on his own and his brain functions like a 30 year old. Keeps up on everything. He told all of us at a family gathering 2 weeks ago: THIS ALL SMELLS DIRTY TO ME, VERY DIRTY. I SUGGEST YOU ALL START TO SAVE NON PERISHABLES,WATER,PLENTY OF AMMUNITION AND BUY MORE FIREARMS. THIS FOR THE GOOD AND SAFETY OF YOUR FAMILIES,RELATIVES AND GOOD FRIENDS. I always have and always will take his advice. After having a lengthy discussion with the entire crew he came to a final statement to one of the WIMPIEST(don't we all have them?) relative. He said come here George, you gonna stand besides me and help me take on the enemy with my Type 99 light Machine gun? Oh papou he said, you don't even have ammunition for that junk and it probably does not work. He told him that's ok George, I understand. Papou then got up and said he was going to take a knap. 20 minutes later, ratatatatatatatatatatatat. Old Papou let out a burst from his most favorite prized possession towards the heavy woods on his acreage upstate. He then says to George, Us Marines always smile at our enemies when we first cordially meet them. While we are smiling at them we are thinking, how am I going to kill this SOB.
