If you get an e-mail saying "Your friend raped me" . . .

. . . it is a virus and a nasty one too. It can even appear to come from your own e-mail address -- mine did. Delete it immediately. I sent this warning out to my own list and I might as well post it here too.

These people are despicable.

The one I hate pretends to be a virus scanner from Microsoft. It uses the Windows logos (illegally).

It has tricked my wife, her dad, and our pastor.

The pastor's PC is now so infected by it that it won't boot. I'm going to attempt a repair.

One thing to remember is that you'll sometimes get popups with multiple choices (yes/no, OK/Cancel, etc). Both buttons do the same thing: infect with the virus. Click the X in the upper right corner to close it and get an adware blocker.

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm an IT guy and I've seen a very noticable uptick in virus activity in the past few months with a downright surge coming in the last two weeks.

The people who write these things need to be strung up by their genitalia.

From the copies I've found on the web, it looks like pretty standard viagra spam. No note of it on Snopes. No hint that it's a virus. Still annoying, though.

Thanks for the heads up Mike!
haven't gotten it yet, but I'll be extra cautious now.

You are too kind... really.

In Brooklyn, the punishment that fit the crime was "nailing [his] kneecaps to the ceiling".

Alternately:

If you get an e-mail saying "Your friend raped me" . . . You very well might be a member of the Kennedy clan.

I keep hearing that there is a bill that would allow Barry to take control of the internet in the event of a major cyber attack. Could this upswing in activity be a False Flag in order to stifle the activities of people like us?

Yes, I agree that virus writers are scummy criminals. But, you can't defend yourself from these scum by getting a protective order, or making trespassing even more illegal. Instead, switch to Ubuntu.
