The Dreaded AR-47.

A tip of the boonie hat to typeay for forwarding me this delicious piece of public ignorance from the Associated Press.

His comment:

I respectfully submit that if you can't tell an AK from an AR, you have no business being either a Police detective, OR an Associated Press news editor.

Indeed.

Hey - AR-47, AR-48... whatever it takes.

Whew! I'm certainly relieved to learn that in a real pinch, I can now use AK magazines in an AR.

THANKS, Associated Press !

Nicely posted...and typical of the anti gun establishment they are so rabid they now will not even check their facts at all!

Judy Bottoni photo (AP photo) is named 2233996524_AK-47sx-large.jpg & the smaller one is the same minus "-large".

In USA Today, the caption is "Kenner police Detective Shaun Watson holds an American-manufactured AR-15 assault rifle.

The Seattle Times image seems to have been hastily killed.

Isn't September "Take a hoplophobic media person to the gun range month"?

Cheers.

Maybe it's just me, but the middle of the KPD badge makes me think of the Kiwanis Club. (I was in the high school affiliate, Key Club.)

As to the newsies mis-ID-ing the rifle, stoopid is as stoopid does. You could probably show them a M-N 91/30, and they'd report it as a "machine gun".

Yeah, Right said...

If these "AK-47s" are leaving a trail of blood at crime scenes across they country, they ought to be pretty easy to locate. If the cops can't find them, any big game hunter worth his salt can track them down.

Just be careful. A wounded AK-47 can be a pretty dangerous beast.

Ignorance is bliss. Especially if you are an enforcer for the govmint.

Why do anti-gun advocates like to be photographed with the object that repulses them the most?

Did not Special Weapons make an Ar-47?
an AK mag using AR basically.

Pah. Here in UK they can't tell the difference between a toy gun and a real gun.

Are you sure it isn't an AK-15? They look a lot alike ...

The AP caption says "hit her house"?

They're UNFIRED CARTRIDGES for crying out loud.

RE: Steve K

That Iraq picture almost knocked me to the ground with MAGNUM force. I haven't LOL'ed so hard for a while now.

Regarding the AR-47 or AK-15: Thats not either. It's an evil black rifle! It can jump up all by itself and shoot people! Oh no! The horror! The horror! Call the exorcist, NOW!
