The New Language of the Left

In the past few days, I have been presented with two op ed pieces that are representative of a changing of the guard, so to speak, in terms of the leftist tone.  During the Bush administrations, the "Progressives" of the time, screeched at the top of their lungs that dissent was patriotic.  Under Obama, we were told that you must support your leaders.  You may remember being told by a certain opportunistically racist comedian that Obama is like your father and you should listen to him.  Even the Daily Kos was confused.  Such has been the tone of the socialists of last eight years.  But all of that ends with the RNC convention.  It is, after all, someone else's turn in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.  That's how it works, right?

Now we have two puff pieces from two ends of the leftist political fourth estate.  These are by no means representative of the minds of the elites that are making the real moves towards their own ends, but it is a good indication as any into the mind of the rank-and-file.

From the Gawker, I present you "Who Will Win the Upcoming Civil War?" .  A note before you proceed: I will advise you  first to remove any beverages from around your electronics.  I come to know this from experience.  There is so much that is wrong with this article I can scarcely find the time to go into significant detail.  The presumptions that war is a "you have all of the green guys, and I have all of the blue" is as absurd as it is infantile.  I will not offer any additional commentary but if you want a real knee slapper, please do yourself a favor and read the comments.  I had originally given thought that this was satire.  No, gentle readers, it is truly the work of a true believer.

The next one comes to us from the LA Times, If Trump wins, a coup isn't impossible here in the U.S.

It starts out: "Trump is the most brazenly authoritarian figure to secure the nomination of a major American political party. He expresses his support for all manner of strongmen, and his campaign manager, Paul Manafort, has actually worked for one: former Ukrainian president and Vladimir Putin ally Viktor Yanukovich."

That's interesting.  I only wish their microscope had been a little more inward focused when we raised concerns that Obama's ear whisperers were filled with an assortment of advocates of the worst sort of communist, identity politics, and muslim expansionism this side of GITMO.

"In [the case that Trump gives unlawful orders], our military men and women, who swear to uphold the Constitution and a civilian chain of command, would be forced to choose between obeying the law and serving the wishes of someone who has explicitly expressed his utter lack of respect for it."

The Oath of Enlistment states: "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

"According to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice".  There is the onion in obeying unconstitutional orders.  Upon looking at it, I had not realized that you will not find the same verbiage in the Oath of Office that commissioned Officers must take.  I can assure you, however, that they are also under the same rules of UCMJ that everyone else must abide by.

"But what about Katrina"?  I agree that the National Guard was completely wrong in what they did, however well meaning it may have been at the time.  Keep in mind that the military authority was under civilian direction.  They were an instrument of the terminally incompetent and corrupt state and local government.  It is not an excuse, but lessons were learned.  Education of what the Uniform Code of Military Justice is and how it relates to disregarding an enumerated right in the Constitution is why groups like the Oathkeepers are so important.  If no one is told it is wrong, how will they know?

And he concludes: "Trump is not only patently unfit to be president, but a danger to America and the world. Voters must stop him before the military has to."  Both salacious and thought provoking, but for me, it does not invoke terror given the present occupier-in-chief.  He expanded the Patriot Act to dizzying heights, bombed on behalf of Al Qaeda, and established ISIS which cascaded into flooding Europe with Jihadi terrorists.  Then there is all of the economic warfare he has waged with all of the expansion and creation of new government entitlements and power grabs.  I do not see how much more an administration can undermine the West, but we still have some months.

There is a common thread between the two articles.  The left has understood that they cannot win this by themselves.  As with any argument the left has produced, it always comes from a place of perpetual victimhood and weakness.  For their success they must have another group to do what they know they cannot, namely win against the American conservative gun owner in a stand up fight.  This should be of no surprise to anyone here.  If you want to know why they are after your semi-autos, this is it.

"Now what we need to do is take away their guns..."

Gawker is currently owned lock, stock, and barrel by Hulk Hogan, after he sued them for libel and won 140 million. The site is a well known click bait organization, and they are not a credible source for anything, for any reason.

I do have the conversation that some of the Gawker commenters mentioned, and it always involves them setting my strategy, tactics, and rules of engagement for me while requiring me to defend that. I try explaining fourth-generation warfare to them, but they keep snapping back to putting me out in the woods wearing camo and trying to overthrow the President. Silly buggers.

The oath for Commissioned Officers OMITS the "I will obey" clause.

Anon@ 3:38,

I pulled the quote from the first link I clicked on. It looked legit enough so I went with it. I am certain the .mil is much more accurate and up-to-date.

I've said it before but it bears repeating: IF it comes down to a 'civil' war, there will be no winners or losers, just survivors. What sort of government those survivors are capable of creating will be 'interesting'.

The remarks postings were a surprise to say the least. I actually expected to come across a few well thought out responses but found none. Very disappointing.

As for the article, it seems more like something I'd read in the onion.

I think this confirms what I've said for years: civil war is coming. Wars happen when one side believes it advantageous to strike. You don't see a lot of wars between evenly-matched opponents. The Commies clearly feel they have nearly defeated the cause of liberty, which is why they are increasingly calling to finish us off with disarmament and war, before we have a chance to regroup.

I have no idea if their assessment is right or not. I suspect there are many more freedom-loving Americans out there willing to fight than the Left anticipates, but I could be mistaken.

You forgot the quote from the other racist "actor" - "our lord and savior, Barack Obama". And the crowd hooped and hollered for Jamie Foxx upon saying it...Now THAT'S an ability to dangle a carrot in front of idiots to lead them right onto the plantation

No worries here. It's simply wishful thinking from the left. The left does not own guns. The left implies the military will step in and pull a coup, wishful thinking yet again.

Matt,
First time poster since the torch was passed.

Neither of the articles were a truly intellectual assessment of the chosen subject matter. As others have noted, "Who will win" is not a serious piece. Op eds from any source are just click-bait propaganda. I stopped reading them half way through when first posted because they were so horrendous. I only read the whole articles now because Matt commented on it. The left / right paradigm has been so thoroughly proven to be a false dichotomy, that it's a waste of time reading any analysis of it. Individualists, those who believe in one's own self determination, come from all walks of life and political affiliation. Broad generalizations like "low-income whites" are on the right of the spectrum is patently false, as is legal and illegal immigrants being on the left. Any upcoming conflict is not in the dictionary sense going to be a civil war between organized groups. The left is not fighting the right. The liberty loving individualists will be fighting the collectivist tyrannical US Government and its branches, but as Mike has chronicled, we must not give up the moral high ground by firing the first shot. It may take several incidents of outrage before a suitable trigger event sways the fence setters into choosing to defend liberty or be assimilated by the Borg. I choose liberty, and pray that the conflict be sooner rather than later so that my children shall know peace.

Well, I have noticed a lot of spitting by left-leaning individuals at rallies and confrontations. I'm talking about genetically male lefties. To me, that falls into the fighting category of pulling hair and scratching. So the law of averages being what it is, if you can just throw a punch you're head and shoulders above these clowns. Oh, and let's not forget the urine and feces throwing. That's another WMD these fairies use. So if you want to see a thousand lefties run like hell, just grab one and start punching the living shit out of him. It will be a rout for the history books, not to mention laughs for years to come

Fighting is what children do. Killing is what adults do. Get ready and have a plan. Self-defense is as natural right.

I have my concerns about Trump, I believe he could be a dangerous politician because he is at least as big a narcissist as Obama. I will take my chances with him I guess, Hillary I know is dangerous. Too many people died during the last time the Clintons were in the W H. It will be worse with her at the helm. Why oh Why couldn't we have another Reagan.

Something I read here indicates to me a lack of circumstantial understanding but obviously not lack of commitment.

1. Your enemies have thought this out and are currently engaged in a plan to seize power as completely as any previous dictator or tyrannical government.

2. This was not an accident but a plan and there are lots of people involved in it knowingly and unknowingly. The results and impacts are the same, no matter their Mens Rea.

3. Fear, lies, propaganda and information control are their primary tools, mayhem and murder follow closely behind. You will not be given an even break or granted fairness, or an even handed debate because they want to win. They are winning because of the aforementioned circumstances and conditions, which they have purposely created to these ends. Facts and truth to them are like holy water to a vampire.

4. Beating the piss out of them isn't going to be sufficient, we are now well beyond that stage. In truth, the danger is now such as to leave only one option. The same option that the Marxists always offer their victims.

5. If you have any doubts about what is happening, you need only look at the communist flags at the democratic convention.

I believe serious attempts to disarm law-abiding citizens will be made if Hillary is elected. They will manufacture some pretense. a Reichstag fire event, that they will then claim makes it imperative to start taking firearms out of the hands of the citizenry. This is likely to trigger retaliations against judges, legislators, and other govt officials perceived as being involved in that effort. Things will get ugly. We can't risk Hillary.

Best to stock up on ammo and magazines. Get at least 500 rounds for each weapon, more if you can. Also buy as much 22 as you can so you can practise.

Do not mention to anyone what you have stockpiled and do not keep it in one place. There is a sroem approaching.
