Greta Van Susteren joins the Brady Bunch in soliciting civil war -- again. As if we wouldn't consider ammuntion restrictions as a casus belli.

Casus belli: a Latin expression meaning "An act or event that provokes or justifies going to war."
"Son, you don't poke a wolverine with a sharp stick unless you want your balls ripped off." -- Grandpa Vanderboegh.
A Brady Buncher writes: "The late senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said that in the United States there was a 200-year supply of guns but a four-year supply of ammunition. So what if we stopped worrying about the guns and instead focused on the bullets?"
This is a socialist siren song warbeled by the elites, including FOX News contributor Greta Van Susteren, who proposed on the George Stephanopolous talking head show the other day: "The guns are there. If you really want to regulate you’ve got to be a little bit smarter, maybe regulate ammunition so that people can’t use their guns. That’s the smart thing."
"Smart thing"?!?!? First of all, as my Grandpa Vanderboegh used to say, "With 'friends' like these, who needs enemas?" Secondly, any effort to restrict ammunition as proposed is a faster way than firearms bans to arrive at the hellgate of civil war. As I have observed before, "Guns are easy. Logistics is hard." This is well understood by every shooter and liberty activist who has taken the time to think things through.
Most long-time readers recall when I told another collectivist puke:
I was once asked by an advocate of citizen disarmament what I thought of "gun control," and then, as I framed my answer, he added, "Give me the short answer."
"Okay," I answered, "if you try to take our firearms we will kill you."
I used to argue history, facts and common sense with such as you, but gave it up as a bad job.
It boils down to that: "If you try to take our firearms (liberty, property, insert any other God-given, inalienable right), we will kill you."
The same goes for ammunition, Greta. I shouldn't have to explain that, but unprincipled prohibitionists such as you are nothing if not terminally stupid.

I'm not aware of any attempt to project small arms ammo consumption in a 4GW environment in the USA. That having been said, the last "unpleasantness" on these shores started in 1860 and ended in 1865. So a four year ammo supply might be just about right.

An expansion on the salient point, most gun owners do very little in the way of gun-smithing at the level where they would naturally start making guns from scratch in the wake of a ban on commercially available firearms. On the other hand, a vast number of the gun owners and particularly enthusiasts do reloading, which is easier than making the guns themselves and more rewarding even with the competition from commercially available ammunition. These people will either have to be tightly regulated or allowed to do as they have been doing all along. Allowing reloading to continue without legal restriction will vastly increase reloading activity (including the selling of reloaded rounds) until it replaces former commercial production (indeed, commercial ammunition manufacturers will turn to 'reloading' to avoid the restrictions on commercial sales).

Imposing tight regulations on reloaders will turn most of them into criminals overnight, simply for possessing stocks of brass, powder, and bullets and the tools (and skills) to assemble them. And while reloaders are only a portion of the gun owning community, they aren't dismissed or despised by anyone. There are no 'Fudds' when it comes to reloading. There's no difference between "black rifle" reloading and reloading for any other firearm.

Most important, reloading rigs are on the other side of the psychological fence between 'weapons' and 'tools' by their essential nature. There are dozens of common tools that are easier to employ (and imagine) as weapons, in fact pretty much all of your really common tools. No matter how you appeal to emotions, the feeling that reloading rigs are a threat to society is just not going to be there (this may be regarded as making no logical sense, though it is really the feeling that firearms somehow do pose such a threat that doesn't hold up to scrutiny). No amount of blood dancing is going to change that (the degree to which SUVs and off-road vehicles have remained popular among nature enthusiasts despite global warming hysteria proves it).

Nobody thinks that a guy who manages to load thousands of rounds of ammo and still has enough fingers to operate a reloading press is a nutjob (even in the rare case that he is). Gun owners hear about police raiding a strangers house and confiscating his firearms and they naturally hesitate to pass judgment, even knowing that the law which authorized the raid applies fully to themselves as well, because after all there are screwballs out there. Gun owners hear about a raid to confiscate reloading equipment and there is not the slightest hesitation to condemn it, whether or not you reload or even know anyone who does, because a screwball with a reloading press is a threat to nobody but themselves.

The law will either be an unenforceable joke because it merely requires commercial manufacturers to describe themselves as 'reloaders' somehow or it will be unenforceable because any enforcement activity will be universally condemned and resisted with a high potential for mass violence. They might as well make an ex post facto law going after grandmothers for having given birth to the parents of current gun enthusiasts.

As long as the bad guys have it so will the good guys too, don't ya know!

And what has happened since the usurper took office, he hasn't went after the guns! He has gone after the ammo. He's shot down production literally by facilities he can control. He's handed rare earth control to foreign powers. He has government cabinet members buy up supply as much as possible. He's made 22lr almost unavailable when it was once thought it was so common nobody needed to think about it every be unavailable

They have already went after ammunition. It is the "flying under the radar" Barry was talking about. And as for Gretta...
Ma'am, is it the smart thing to go after ink (and now pixels) rather then pens and printing presses? Hmmmm?

IDK WTF is going on at FOX News.

They are widely seen as "conservative" (witness the one guy trying to interview some libtard in San Francisco City Hall a few weeks back, identifying himself as being from FOX, and the intended interviewee scuttling into his office proclaiming over his shoulder that "FOX is not news") yet we have people like Juan Williams, John Stossel, and Geraldo Rivera employed by them, and now Greta with this BS about gun control via ammo control. Stossel and Rivera now proclaim themselves "Libertarians", LOL. Bob Beckel they have at least finally got rid of.

Hi Mike,
HoooooBoy!!!!! Let's light off a Forest Fire!! As an old saying I once heard somewhere goes,"Close one door and another opens." So Gretta and Gang toss out the concept of "Ammo Restriction??" Sure kid, go nutz and start a WAR!! Lets just say that Gretta and crew got their wish, "There's No More AMMO to be had, well at least commercially." Again this reminds me of a scene from an old B&W John Wayne WWII movie where in some Pacific Jungle fighting WWII and he's trying to help out the local fighters. "Logistics" are a problem, one of the fighters asks JW how to get more guns and ammo, JW asks the fighter, "How'd you get the pistol in your belt??" Fighter says," Kill Jap!" JW says,"Kill More Japs!!!" .........
The "ENEMY" has all kinds of Guns, Ammo, Supplies, Vehicles, Commo, you-name-it!!
All for the taking!!!!!
Got Gunz...(and Ammo!).....OUTLAW!!!!,

So, if we have four years worth of ammo, maybe we should think about taking them out sooner rather than later, Huh? Greta forgets about or knows nothing about all us guys stock piling presses, reloading dies and components! Maybe she needs to be added to the list for even thinking such commie, civil war startin' nonsense.

4 year supply? what about all those hundreds of thousands of cheap($79.00)chi-com cases of 7.62 that came into the country back in the 80's? they were dated EARLY 70's( and worked great)
I know alot of people who stocked up on that ammo, at that price. I bet ALOT of it is still in ready to go condition. that ammo will still be good in another 40 years.

Ain't a lot that can't be fixed with $700 and a loaded .30-06!

Bad guys don't acquire their firearms through legal channels. It would take some kind of brain dead Bozo to believe they wouldn't acquire ammo by illegal means through the same illicit channels they now use to acquire firearms.

Oh, wait!

One wonders how much time in an RCBS case cleaner it will require to polish off the microstamping on a used case picked up at the range. I'm guessing it would vary depending on whether one used corncob, walnut shell, or ceramic media. ;-)

One also wonders about the future value of unmarked brass as an investment.

And then one wonders about the depth of the idiocy of anyone in the District of Criminals who would take these proposals seriously.

Then one remembers the Colorado state legislator who thought magazines could not be refilled.

Shoulder thing that goes up, Anyone?

Hmmm....regulations....etc., etc., etc.

Let's see; The U.S has strictly regulated all sort of drugs, including alcohol, since the early 20th century, and entrepreneurs have supplied, through the black market, whatever demand the white market couldn't supply.

Supply will meet demand.

What I wonder about is that do these retards actually believe this will solve their 'problem', or is it simply a smoke screen and they really want a major insurrection on their hands?

They really have no idea. They really, really have no clue. Ammunition?,... please.

Wise folks, many of them, have seen the writing on the wall for a good bit.

Greta can best be described by a four-letter word that starts with "C" and it isn't cute. Four Years? Ha ha! I have a LIFETIME of ammo stored up - and that's if I keep shooting at my current rate and never replenish. I'm one man and I know plenty of guys that make my cache look like a short weekend's worth. Not to mention that when the time does come, the ammo that is available will be carefully aimed at high-value targets. These people are dangerous for the simple fact that they are so arrogant, they actually think they could "win" the Second American Revolution. I'm not sure the American people will win either, but I can pretty much guarantee there won't be much left for either side to claim as "spoils". Not sure what these weasels hope to achieve?

If you are for gun control, then you are not against guns, because the guns will be needed to disarm people. So it's not that you are anti-gun. You'll need the police's guns to take away other people's guns. So you are very pro-gun, you just believe that only the Government (which is, of course, so reliable, honest, moral and virtuous) should be allowed to have guns. There is no such thing as gun control. There is only centralizing gun ownership in the hands of a small, political elite and their minions. - Stefan Molyneux

I'll have to agree with Jeffrey McFadden. "A four year supply" huh? I love how the media uses numbers, 4 years for who? I know an awful lot of people that have a zero-year supply, and others who arguably have a lifetime supply. But of course numbers need to be adjusted for population. And with modern manufacturing, there is really no realistic upper limit as far as expiration date assuming decent storage conditions. My old spam can 8mm Mauser still works fine, I bet my M855 holds up just as well, if not better.

If you are seeing media on your TeeVee rest assured it has been compromised for some time. Mike Hastings was unavailable for comment. In order to have a Red State/Blue State steel cage match you need to promote both sides. Then when the veil begins to drop you can put all that crap aside and just promote tyranny in all forms 24-7.

Thank you FNC for yet another confimation that terminating my cable service, as well as your's, was the correct action to take.

Over the air and cable are nothing more than lies and manipulation, otherwise known as propaganda, the flavor depends upon who you are watching. Streaming costs less and is much better service for your buck.

OVER ONE YEAR BULLSHIT AND MANIPULTION FREE!

BTY MAGICJACK works quite well (4 years and running) and will save you a sh**load of money too!

More & more often, Faux SKews is revealing itself for what it is, not conservative, merely not as (openly) far left as CNN, MSNBC, et al.

Folks, if yer gittin' yer news there - yer misinformed, misdirected & deceived. Faux Skews is just as much a propaganda outlet for the State as the others.

Having said that, an unintentional (yet positive) result of ammo bans will be markmanship.

Every shot counts.

Hey Mike,
Sorry to hear you're having a rough day. Domino and I will pray for your return to health. We need you, man!

On a completely different subject, Domino (who writes a mean column herself, even if it is only for Chiky Stix Monthly), wonders why you misspelled Greta's last name.

Domino insists it is spelled "Cistern."

Quick, Domino, the Bushmills... and the Thesaurus!
