"Obama announces new sanctions."

Remember this? "Why even the most isolationist and unconcerned Fudd should care about the Ukraine -- Poof! There goes the Russian ammo supply." Several readers sent the following link:

Monday’s order authorizes Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to work with Secretary of State John Kerry to impose asset freezes and travel restrictions on “any individual or entity that operates in the Russian arms industry, and any designated individual or entity that acts on behalf of, or that provides material or other support to, any senior Russian government official,” the White House said in a statement.

One asks: "But will Obama's Russia sanctions executive order mean no more imports of Russian made ammo? It certainly seems within the scope if the order is described accurately. If that's what is does, Mike warned early on it might be coming."

So far, no. But the game is young.

Paul X said...: Usually I figure Obama or his handlers are smarter than this. They fucked up in Ukraine, now Russia has Crimea back again. Surely Obama cannot believe that (allegedly) supporting "democracy" (whatever that means) in Kiev is OK, but it's bad in Crimea? Does he really think that message is going to fly?

This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible.
