I'm disappointed, but not surprised. The bus bill situation is unfortunate, and will require significant cash injection (for repeated bills, or for a lawsuit) to continue to pursue this in a strictly legal manner. So in a way, I understand the decision.
Both NYSRPA and SCOPE are worthy of financial support, even if only for funding their continued lawsuits, as a dropped ball here due to finances will doom not only NY, but a large portion of a federal court circuit, and maybe eventually all of us.
But it's not just that. Aside from the outreach that they're doing, there need to be consequences for the state legislators and the multitude of individual petty tyrants in local government that support this. And they (SCOPE, NYSRPA) cannot be attached to that while retaining any semblance of legitimacy to the people they're attempting to influence.
Speaking strictly for myself, I'm with NYSRPA on this. Rallies are a waste of everyone's time and money. They may work for the left, but that's because "conservatives" in office are a bunch of pussies. The leftists in office, however, don't give a rat's behind how many people show up outside their door. They have an agenda and they're sticking to it, come hell or high water. If we're going to beat them and thereby retain our rights, we're going to have to be much more judicious with everyone's time and money, and much more strategic with how we deploy it. I think NYSRPA's making the correct call here, and I'm advocating for other patriot groups (NY2A.org, NYR, OKs) to follow suit.
The only way another rally in Albany will be worth doing at this point is if the all of the rally participants are fully and openly exercising their constitutional right to BEAR ARMS at the rally. Anything less is toothless, pointless and worthless.
Fat cat double talking and back room dealing scammers are gonna run for the hills. They know the party is over and people are FED UP with excuses and stalling itself. "Leadership" now wants to avoid being held responsible for what their double dealing and compromises have created. One pissed off population.
I know this much. It's wonderful to see there still exists people willing to call a spade a spade.
Those who have taken thirty pieces of silver for supporting the trading away of other peoples rights have to live with what they have done. Circling the wagons, pulling back, taking their ball and going home etc NONE of it will stop the chickens from coming home to roost. There is more to come - no doubt - and true colors are gonna shine more brightly every day.
People are fed up with excuses and they will direct their ire at ALL those responsible - lobbyist looters included. It's about time. I submit this pull back is an attempt to avoid liability - on several fronts - and I think that attempt fails.
Politicians don’t give a damn about rallies, phone calls or emails, they only care about power.
I know I have talked to enough of the clowns in my state to know they don’t give a damn about a phone call
Look what happened in Albany with the city charging the NYSRPA for bus parking. If that was a bunch of left wing nut jobs the parking would have been free, but because its gun owners they pay.
The real power is in getting people on the ballots and into office that will restore lost rights, immunities and privileges.
The tea party is our best hope of peaceful change! We need to get constitutional pro-gun people on the ballots, take over the Republican Party and start restoring our country.
The only rallies in my opinion worth going to are the ones used for funding true tea party patriots!!!!!

the only rally that really counts is the one where several million law abiding AR owners march on DC and arrest the bad guys

Rallies clearly don't mean anything to our politicians in Albany. Neither to emails, petitions or phone calls.
If NYSRPA thinks it can do more good by bowing out of rallies, that's fine with me.
Mike I agree with the NYSRPA.
