And yet when a manufacturer goes through all the hoops like this to comply with the new restrictions they will be castigated by the media and pundits for "skirting" the law.
Always remember, gun control isn't about safety, it isn't about the law, it's about reducing the number of firearms in private hands and disarming as many private citizens as possible.

Those of you that don't live in California can be a derisive as you like. To me, it looks like a 100% legal SHTF starter kit. Take one Abominable-15, acquired 100% legally and nicely broken in at the same range shared by the local constabulary, then add a small and inexpensive collection of legally acquired parts: collapsing stock, your favorite grip, replace bullet button with normal mag release, and with 10 minutes of screwdriver time your Abominable-15 is a ready-to-rock SHTF gun. I'm not collecting guns to be "safe queens", what good is a gun that can't see the light of day without risking arrest? Of course, I also have some 80% paperweights stored away for the day when I might want something that hasn't been tracked.

Anymore, it isn't even about the actual disarmament. It's about the feeling if power and authority over others in declaring that others must disarm or else!

Yes this rifle "skirts" the law and that's the point. It does show the futility if passing these laws. However, the ONLY thing these tyrants understand is $$$$$.

Manufacturers HAVE to do two things. First they must move their production to states where this isn't an issue. Second the MUST refuse to ARM those bent on disarming the citizenry.

This rifle presents, in my opinion, not truly a skirting but instead a bowing. It is essentially a concession that those new law is to be complied with rather than opposed and beaten back.

For too long the gun rights debate has been on the wrong plane. It's argued on the should we or shouldn't we plane rather than the can they or can't they. In that light, yes we can has a profound meaning beyond media sloganeering huh?

It's time we argue dutifully, NO YOU CANT!
This rifle represents exactly the opposite and it should be shunned as a result.

So, anonymous at 11:17... when you move to California, are you going to: a) risk felony arrest every time to you go to the range, b) stop shooting all together. Because until some court cases work themselves through the system, those are your options. Which option leaves you better prepared in the event that the court cases don't work out? Instead of sitting in your arm chair telling Californians how every one of them should become instant felons because you think some gun or another is ugly, maybe you should think about contributing to our court cases before the contagion spreads to where you live. The contagion must be stopped here. If all the internet bravado I've heard was real, Sacramento would be a smouldering crater. I'm waiting for you all to contribute something useful besides hot air.

It's an abortion, but it still can put a hole in a tyrant. Looks easily remedied also. Are they going to throw you in jail for having this gun, and a standard buttstock in the house at the same time? The gun haters have no limits to their absurdity.
