The opening argument- no mention of a major Konig, is a falsehood on its face. German law prevents the release of information regarding dead wehrmacht soldiers without the family's permission.
The next item, that there had been no sniper school in 42/43, is also misleading, as the very picture at the top of the page depicts a German sniper at Stalingrad in 1942. The Germans, while perhaps having not established a formal school as we would recognize today, did have training programs in place. Like many nearly initiated concepts, the opening "school" is little more than a cadre unit and volunteers/voluntolds. This initial training group first got kicked off around '42 but the training companies and large scale turn out of trained shooters did not get going until '44.
Further evidence of official support of a sniper program comes from the development and final introduction of specialized ammunition in 1944.
Finally, the author's incredulity at a professional sniper making a mistake is humorous. History is littered with professionals who were upset by rookies after making a single mistake. A simple ruse is often effective against professionals precisely because its obvious nature implies a second. actual trap or an obvious lure to draw the attention. Stage magicians give us what we want to see all the time in order to pull their sleight of hand.
Poorly written article that adds nothing, gives nothing, and makes no serious advancements on the matter.
The article did not say there were no snipers at Stalingrad; in fact it said the opposite. It did not say there was no sniper program, but only no school in Berlin (not that that seems very relevant anyway).
I found the article plausible although one or two points were shaky - but keep in mind he is simply repeating the points of historian Frank Ellis.
Do you have a link to this German law about release of information? Anyway there is more than one way to skin a cat. The Soviets collected the body after all.
I thought this point was very interesting, and new info for me: "The Soviet and German armies in World War II used hordes of snipers—far more than the American and British armies—to pick off enemy officers, artillery observers and machine-gun crews."
The German sniper school at Possin(spell?) was opened in 1917-it didn't close until 1945. Germany had the most advanced sniping program on earth, until 1942 when the Russians caught up. Whether the Story was true or not is irrelevant. The fact is that both sides had HUNDREDS of men AND women with more than 200 kills EACH who hunted each other all over the Eastern Front. Something that SHOULD be of concern to modern patriots AND government is that BOTH sides kept killing well into the 1950s. In isolated cases the killings(war related) were still taking place into the 1960s. A lesson that SHOULD be taken to heart BEFOR the North American Civil War(III) starts.
I don't find the article convincing, other than mention of why things might not be the way the story has been told over the years.
Compared to what the regime (blended with Hollyweird or not) expects us to believe these days I'll take the "Oliver Stone Fifth" - never let the truth get in the way of a damned good story.

And the fact that commies lie about everything. Like the designer of the AK-47, supposed female snipers, the invention of warp drive...
