Jake McGuigan, of NSSF, is correct in admonishing gun dealers to "wake up". But, he is also proscribing a recipe for defeat, if he believes, "it is not political". Everything in contemporary America is political. It cannot be otherwise when you have federal, state and local governments extending their tentacles into every facet of our lives. Pretty naive thinking on his part, or he is living in an earlier age.
"Retailers must explain to their legislators what will happen to their businesses if particular legislation is passed that harms them.... With these realities, although politicians are often anti-gun, they don’t want to lose important tax revenue and they don’t want their constituents losing jobs."
Well, this article is silly. Politicians don't give a rats ass about a small constituency, so such arguments are going to fall on deaf ears. They only care about themselves. If you are going to persuade, you have to put it in terms that affects THEM.
