ATF beating that tired, old broken drum again: "All evil firearms come from U.S. gun dealers."

Remember when we reported that ATF's Tampa SAC walked guns to Honduras? (See also some discussion here.)
Now we have this: Study Shows Over 60% of Weapons in El Salvador Come From US

And once again, their penchant for misleading with their statistics is present, and vigorous. 39,000 guns out of the alleged 200,000 in the country is 19.5%, not 60% as they croak. More likely it is 60% of the guns they tracked, which would be somewhere around 25,000 of them, the ones TRACKED, and that would make them 12 or 13% of all guns in the country, if their 200,000 gun estimate is anywhere near correct. Which they have no idea if it is accurate at all. Since they have such a high murder rate, why not estimate at least a million guns? Since crime is high, guns are obviously plentiful and relatively cheap, with a lot of the guns on their way to other places as well.

if they're on a witch-hunt for evil, perhaps they should start with troy industries, which hired dale monroe in may of last year... and then jody weis in august.

The USDOS has been shipping STOA arms to South/central america for over a half-century , so what's the big deal ? FTM I'm certain somewhere in its mountainous archives are records of every weapon ever sent south. Now our government types, (and their antigun sycophants) are complaining ? >Jeff

"... over 60% of all legal weapons in the Central American country can be traced back to the United States."

Note the word there LEGAL

So now the US is 'guilty' of supplying LEGAL firearms ...

ER - that is called good business!
