The charge was shooting into an occupied vehicle ? How about changing that to ATTEMPTED MURDER ? Or do the King's Men get modified charges (Dude looked at me funny - I had to do my duty!) at received a rage control seminar and get back to duty vs. his 'participation certificate'.

An interesting thing I spotted in the linked article:

"[The scumbag's] attorney, Bruce Lehr, said he couldn't say much about the allegations, but said his client has the right to self-defense whether he's on duty or not.

"As a law enforcement officer, he does not lose his right to defend himself and his family," Lehr said.

That's a DANGEROUS way to think....

And these are the people that the Josh Horowitzes would trust to possess arms.

You clearly have never lived in an area with significant Hispanic population. "Angel" (pronounced Ahn - Hell) is rather a common given name for men. The feminine form is generally Angela or Angelica.

Sam Clemens (AKA Mark Twain) said it best:
"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

I was very surprised that the FLEA was arrested and charged. So many places treat them like super cops.

FLEAS are not cops. They have no jurisdiction at all outside their bailiwick. I especially liked it where the Boca Raton cop wrote that "Echevarria was a "civilian and had no lawful or legal authority to discharge his firearm at an occupied vehicle.' " If I had been the guy who got shot at - Alla Juma - I would have been scared spitless. Big, heavy set Hispanic dude gets out of a Jeep, draws down on me with a big handgun, then proclaims himself to be a police officer even though he is not in uniform and no badge is visible. The dude with the gun's protestations not withstanding, NO WAY I'm buying that last bit of bravo sierra. At that point I'm gonna be 3/4ths scared out of my mind and all I'm gonna be thinking about is getting the HECK out of Dodge ASAP!!

Anybody know the particulars concerning open and concealed carry of a handgun in Florida? They already have the barstid on three counts of a third degree felony that normally carries a minimum sentence of 3 years but which can easily jump to a minimum of 20 YEARS!!! And shooting into an occupied vehicle is a 2nd degree felony. Also, being a cop in prison is often a capital "crime". Add to that the fact that a felony conviction means the loss of one's 2nd amendment right for the rest of their life.

Or the feds will apply a bit of judicious pressure to the judge and prosecutor and this a$$hole will walk with a tiny wrist slap.

note to self..file under..

Things that make collectivist gun grabbers cringe.

"According to a Boca Raton police probable cause affidavit, Echevarria honked his horn at Juma's car after Juma cut him off near the Town Center mall.

In response, Juma shot up his middle finger."

I thought that you have the 1st Amendment right to express yourself by giving the middle finger, even to a uniformed police officer, and that it does not justify an armed response. If that that was the cause of the armed response, add a violation of civil rights to the list of charges.

Open carry is not 'allowed' in FL. Just the 'only ones' legally possess that 2A right.
