The real threat for NJ gun owners isn't the "fifty cal. ban". Lurking in the "unsigned pile" is one invalidating gun owners' current NJFOID card. It requires all owners/purchasers apply (and pay for) a new, more rigorous background check. This "approval" would be incorporated into their driver's license. This bill also incorporates a "training requirement".
For decades NJ hunters had to pass a "hunter safety course" in order to purchase any class hunting license , not just firearm. But traditionally presentation of a previous years license was deemed "proof" of such training. Where does this new hurdle leave NJ hunters as hunting season looms ? >Jeff
