Is NJ Governor Christie re-thinking his position on .50 caliber rifle bans?

If Christie does veto A 3659, he will still be a forcible citizen disarmament zealot; an anti-gun jihadist. It would illustrate, though, that he is at least politically savvy enough to make some effort to hide his extremist hatred of an armed citizenry. Let us hope that voters have learned about the folly of empowering candidates who try to disguise their ideology until after the election.

Anonymous said...: The real threat for NJ gun owners isn't the "fifty cal. ban". Lurking in the "unsigned pile" is one invalidating gun owners' current NJFOID card. It requires all owners/purchasers apply (and pay for) a new, more rigorous background check. This "approval" would be incorporated into their driver's license. This bill also incorporates a "training requirement".

For decades NJ hunters had to pass a "hunter safety course" in order to purchase any class hunting license , not just firearm. But traditionally presentation of a previous years license was deemed "proof" of such training. Where does this new hurdle leave NJ hunters as hunting season looms ? >Jeff; August 12, 2013 at 6:03 PM
