'Gun insurance' requirement would be punitive tax

Harvey's proposal does have one thing going for it. During the reign of an administration that has shown both its rabid hostility to an armed citizenry, and an enthusiastic willingness to use the power of taxation as a weapon against political enemies, such legislation is likely to have powerful patrons within the government.

Doesn't this guy realize that a tax might stop some people from owning firearms? This is particularly bad timing, with the latest al-Qaida threat, which mysteriously moved from embassies to CONUS late last week, everyone needs to be armed. The threat is so real, so big (might rival 9-11) that the President,so full of worry, left the situation room and went golfing. See the seriousness of it all? This is no time for a tax. The unbelievable shit that Americans fall for, astounds me.

If they want to tax our guns, they can come and collect it in person. I'm sick of them and I'm sick of people weakly accepting every new infringement, or threat of infringement.

If they want to collect a tax, it will be paid in lead.

Plata y plomo.

Come and get it!

if it's called a "tax" then John Roberts would be OK with it...

Only you can allow yourself to be oppressed. Refuse to pay this tax if it gets voted or dictated into law.

Article 1 Section 10 of the Constitution: "There shall be no ex-post facto laws" (punitive laws). It is not just the 2nd Amendment this (and Obamacare) violates.

Yep....Roberts....allegedly the whole reason why we should elect "conservatives" and Republicans when it's time to vote...LOL.

Look at the bright side. If this thing has legs (which I very much doubt), it will only drive people to become scofflaws and carry without the permit, an excellent result; and it will also give constitutional carry a big shot in the arm. Also people would get annoyed that cops are insured (if at all) by the taxpayers while private individuals get the shaft. No, there is nothing to worry about on this one!

Let's play the game. They want liability insurance..just in case.
OK. To be most effective:
1-Texting insurance just in case you text while driving.
2-phone insurance just in case you phone while driving.
3-DUI insurance just in case you drink.
The above will be many times more effective than just in case you own a gun.
