The new Powder Alarm:
In short, it looks like this bill is specifically designed to restrict the ability of those who load their own ammunition or use black powder firearms from buying the components that fuel their activities.

Well, I guess they will have to include fireworks in this, too. That's what the Tsarnuev brothers used. Maybe you have to register every purchase of regular gunpowder in the Peoples Republic of MA? I dunno. Maybe that's why they chose to get their powder from fireworks.
I have a suggestion. Just deport all muslims, even if they're citizens like the younger brother. Islam isn't a religion anyway. It is a death cult.

Thanks to this post I'm now trying to resist the urge to buy an 8lb jug of Winchester 296.

I don't shoot enough full house magnum to justify it but if powder is going to become hard to get....

Greybeard,

While Islam, in its pure, original form, was a religion of violent conquest, it's become as full of liberals who disregard its scriptures as the mainline Christian denominations, but that's beside the point.

When you talk about deporting all Muslims including the ones that are U.S. Citizens, that disrespects the First Amendment as much as calls for an AWB disrespect the Second.

Yes, many Muslims want to kill us, including at least some here; and Yes, most others won't rat the radicals out, mirroring the silence of Djokhar's buddies (the Mosque threatening to toss the older brother out is a rarity).

However, if we start letting the government say which religions are safe and which are prohibited, we're making the same trade of freedom for security that the gun banners make with AWB proposals.

Yes, having Muslims in our midst is a danger, and we ought to revamp our Immigration policy to screen them better, but we have to accept that risk if we want to keep from chipping away at the First Amendment, just as we have to live with the possibility of mass shootings if we want to keep our liberty teeth sharp.

Scott J,
If this looks like it's getting close to passing, think of the purchase as an investment . . . .

Given the amount of citizens having trouble finding work we could at least put a damper on immigration. Sorry, no new muslims.

Greybeard is right, it's not a religion. Its a political ideology.
