If it was her attorney who suggested that she ask for 1.5 million, fire him/her and hire one that seeks at least 5 million. Also seek the dismissal from the Department, all officers who were involved. Why leave jack booted thugs on the streets to terrorize other citizens? If local, state, and Feds will not clean up their agencies, then the citizen should do it. If this happens in your town, keep a list of names for a future, final, disposition.
Teh big bad authoritah and po-po want to live in a surveillance state? Good. Then all citizens of that town should record all the statists everywhere they go. On duty or off. When you upgrade fo a new phone, keep the old phone - it should still record. Or use your new phone to record, and give teh po-po your old (wiped clean) phone. Even if the citizen just holds up his/her hands to fake holding a cell phone recorder.
Make teh statists nervous to be seen in public.

What would one expect from members of the world's largest criminal street gang? Around here cops shot two 8-week-old pit bull puppies. The officers swore the dogs were being aggressive. 8-week-old pups? Even 8-week-old pit bull pups? Give me a break! The Chief of SAPD endorsed his officers' actions completely. No surprises there. Chief McManus started off in the DC Metro PD, went from there to Dayton, Oh, Minneapolis and finally here. DC, Dayton and Minneapolis. No need to inquire about his politics. He is the darling of the (utterly Dhimmicrat dominated) city council and Mayor. You remember our Mayor? Julian Castro? He spoke at the Dhimmicrat convention last year. Conservatives/Republicans need not apply at SAPD.

Generally speaking, the Courts won't go for that sort of thing, and the city/county will defend it to the hilt. Police unions won't let guys get fired for anything. Even if you were to win, the union would sue to get the guy his job back with back pay, and would almost certainly win. Lose/lose for the taxpayers (who also get stuck for the $1.5 million in damages, too).
The police basically ran for their lives in L.A. at the onset of the Rodney King riots. They knew that once the people were "mad as hell and weren't going to take it anymore", they didn't stand a chance against the wrath of the population.
Two in the guts - low ... followed some time later with one in the head.
Saves on pension payments and job law litigation ...
Soon solves the problem when the penalty is known!

no need to have the courts strip the officers of their jobs. just file suit against the cop's insurance bonds. when the insurance company settles(and they will), have the bonds revoked for 'cause' and the cops won't be able to work for .gov anymore regardless of the local .gov or unions.

Honestly, I believe that we are VERY rapidly approaching the point in this country where anyone still wearing a badge is going to be assumed to be a jack-booted thug, and treated accordingly (read: with extreme prejudice).
This is why I went ahead & turned in my badge and said 'Sayonara' to public service. Not that I have changed my commitment to my fellow citizens, rather, I've changed my outlook on whether one can still take a paycheck from the gov't and remain faithful to We The People. It is clear that what passes for government is now so much against the people that you cannot straddle the fence. Gun manufacturers are at this point as well. They either refuse to do business with anti-gun governments/agencies or they toady up to these tyrannical entities because they value gov't money more than their relationship with We The People.
If a Sheriff says he's against gun control, but turns around to solicit local snitches ratting out anyone with 'antigovernment opinions', that is a jackbooted thug whose name needs to go on the list of domestic enemies.
I know that there are many oath-keeping, constitutional lawmen out there who stand with us. I fear for their safety, because we are rapidly approaching the fateful day when wearing that badge will be an invitation to taking incoming fire from frustrated & enraged people who expect ANY encounter with government employees to be an immediate threat to their lives, liberty and property - no matter how desperately they try to comply with the hundreds of thousands of laws on the books.
When the majority of people realize that the courts will ALWAYS protect the jackbooted thugs from being accountable to We The People; when the public realizes that the courts will side with the JBT's in nearly every instance; and that justice is a concept that only the terminally naive still believe in, coupled with the JBT's psychopathic violence against civilians without provocation in most cases; and when they realize that the courts are working with the jackboots in waging war upon each and every one of us... THAT will be the day when Americans will start shooting to kill on sight anytime they see a government uniform, anytime they spot someone they know positively is a government agent, bureaucrat, or official.
And when that day comes, likely very soon, a firestorm of retribution will be unleashed that will make the streets run like rivers of blood; and I say this because the tyrants and their minions will not be the only targets of the fury of righteous rage, but also each and every active supporter of that tyranny. Every collectivist puke who's been a lifelong enabler of the tyrants. Every socialist, every last one.
Indeed, I tremble when either I contemplate God's power and righteousness, or when I ponder the long-suffering frustration of the American people and the injustices they have endured.
And when I do, I pray that God will help us find a way to get through the dark times upon us without losing our way - spiritually or otherwise.
One possible explanation (Not excuse) for this type of government sanctioned thuggery is anabolic steroid abuse by the costumed pretenders. MSM suckasses will tell us about it for weeks on end, if we choose during brief periods to check up on what the Communists are saying on TV; that is, as long as it's only baseball players or other athletes "on 'roids" and NOT some low IQ loser who finally got a little respect by donning a government clown suit. Does anyone know if cops are ever even checked for steroids? We don't yet know the whole story; however, if the victim had no weapon, I've been on the giving and receiving end of enough bar brawls to know for sure that if they could beat him to death with batons---they could cuff him without killing him, and not being allowed to use a baton administered "choke hold" is no excuse.
