Being a beneficiary of the "other side" I will offer this :
Conversations with "professionals", spanning many years , all present the same conclusion. Criminality is BIG BUSINESS, benefiting the weal of vast numbers in law-enforcement and all its subsidiary functions ! "Proving" society could "get more for less" in this endeavor breaks a lot of rice bowls. >Jeff
Okay, you're probably being cynical, I hope. But really, gun control was never meant to control crime, it was meant to remove guns from the hands of a free People into the hands of their new masters. Crime, atrocities, fear of your neighbor, " you don't need that" were all excuses to exercise the power to accomplish gun control.
And gun control is but one facet of a program to remove liberty from the People and place them in servitude to the State.
I concluded 20 years ago that this controversy is not about crime reduction and public safety - that's just a false front, like a Hollywood movie set. The real issue is that our elitist "betters" don't think the hoi polloi (American people) should have arms. After all, we may wake up to their lies and deceit, and the elite know the power at their disposal is insufficient to deal with us as the situation stands now. They are venal and hypocritical but not stupid.
