Bitten by hoplophobic education bureaucrats.

The difference between a hydrophobic dog and and a hoplophobic collectivist? They both bite, but the dog has an excuse.

I've said this before and I'll say it again.
If I could have just one wish, it would be that everyone in this country knew about jury nullification.

The key phrase came from the school spokesperson -"knowingly and willingly". There used to be the concept of presumed innocence - apparently NOT the case anymore.
Plus - who 'overheard' the private conversation??? And why did they feel that they had to make an issue of something that was NOT their business?

One more example of the education system being a lost cause.

It is completely infested with folks like this - boobs unfamiliar with the concept of common sense.

The "educators" actions might carry more "moral weight" if numerous reports of " exceptions" for staff indiscretions weren't alleged .

On the "upside" it appears Mr. Withrow now has a fully paid scholarship to Liberty University plus the means to complete his secondary education requirement. So the socialist/progressive educational diktat's mandates may have been thwarted.

On the "downside" its likely Mr. Withrow will forever be banned from exercising his "inalienable right" of firearms use; not to mention being included on any/all "terrorist" lists. This will/could prevent him from military enlistment, obtaining security clearances, job opportunities and, perhaps, public office.

I doubt few, if any of his excoriators - realize just how pervasive and enduring their "PK" diktats will be. Or even care. >Jeff

I agree with the first commenter ... this kind of shit has to stop.
These "educators" and their "zero tolerance" bullshit need to be fired and made to pay restitution to the young man.
According to the story, it was an honest mistake, not "knowingly and intentionally," and apparently he was trying to get his Mom to come and get his truck or something to remove the gun from the premises.
This is (another) total outrage.

Why should they care? It doesn't affect them.

Even if a court turns around and overturns the whole thing, with a judge citing the lack of criminal intent (which is why this should've never gone beyond the principal giving the young man an exasperated lecture), the bureaucrats will never face any consequences for damaging this young man's future.

There will be no repercussions. At least, no -legal- ones. I'm kind of hoping someone beats the shit out of them myself, but I'm a bad person anyways.
