Push back. Organize pro-gun rallies and get togethers. Show these neo-nazi punks that some people are not intimidated. Show them that some of us see their antics as a call to arms. Anyone can strut around acting like a tough guy trying to desensitize and intimidate the public. Strange how all that changes when bodies are laying around with their life blood trickling into a gutter, both ours and theirs. Steel up; it's coming anyway.

I think people get overly worked up about things like this. This is not what you would call intelligence. That a DHS vehicle is there is obvious, but without knowing why it's there, where it's going, and whose driving it, you really don't know whether or not it's a present danger.
For example, my NG unit recently did a long convoy on a major highway from our base to a training site. We made several stops for gas. It's a totally benign trip, where our whole goal was to take ourselves, our gear, and our vehicles from point A to point B. At this level of "reporting", some jack wagon with a camera could take a picture, post it on the Internet, and use it as "proof" that the military is desensitizing America to military operations in their borders as a prelude to civil war. Nevermind none of us would be there if that was the goal.
Think, question, analyze. As much as I dislike the DHS, they really aren't the Stasi; they're not going to throw you in jail for asking them, as a concerned citizen, what they're doing in your community. If they answer your questions, then you'd have some real intel on what they're doing. Or ask someone familiar with DHS and LE in Florida, or do some sleuthing. Creating wild ass theories on nothing is counter-productive and how we get labelled "the lunatic fringe."
For example, with a couple minutes using Google, I can find out the main DHS office is in Tallahassee, which is over 200 miles away from Ybor City. A little far for driver familiarization, so, assuming that's where the cehicle came from, what is it doing so far from home? Is it being reassigned to a local office? Is it transport for officers doing joint training with local law enforcement? If the purpose is really to get people used to seeing them, why is it on a highway instead of in a neighborhood or major metropolitan area? My info resourcing was by no means exhaustive and I'm sure a Florida native would be able to fill in a lot of holes, but you get the idea. The level of "intel" in this photo and linked thread doesn't even meet the level of a SALUTE report, and to go from "DHS vehicle" to "the Orweillian state is here!" ignores some links in the chain of logic. (Not to mention that we live in an age where your TV can literally spy on you. The Orweillian state has BEEN here, folks; we just haven't had a real despot at its helm yet.)
I'm also somewhat cynical of all the posts I see talking about how they'll "need to get out eventually" or other bunk. It's called counter-mobility; FM 5-102. Your dads and grandads didn't fight tanks in WWII by waiting for their operators to get out, and it would behoove you to take their example. You may not have all the cool-guy gear, but you do have your head; analyze the problem and think out a solution instead of hoping that OPFOR will do something stupid.
This isn't a charge against Vanderbough specifically, I just see comments like this everywhere these stories pop up.
Fitting to see them at a Hess station, but only because there are no Himmler or Göring stations.
I understand DHS used two of these when they raided Bob Adams home and office in New Mexico last month. You know, the guy from whom they seized 1500 collectors arms, and proffered no charges.

Back here in my USA universe, the MERE FACT, that DHS vehicles like this EXIST, are on the streets of Amerika, is living proof the terrorists have won, lock stock and..excuse the pun..barrel. Had someone told me the day before 9/11 that I would eventually see what has happened to the America I was born in, I would have told him he was drinking too much kool-aid.

Yes, Captain Obvious. The fact that we're all here reading this page means we pretty much think the same thing about this, so let's quit with stating the problem and start solving it. Me being morally outraged isn't going to stop what's coming, and neither is frothing at the mouth on the Internet. Who I support, associate with, and how I spend my money is going to be critical in the coming months, and that's what I am focusing on and what I think the community should be focusing on. Wild conjecture is a distraction at this point, as is outrage. Let it simmer, and think.
DHS is just one symptom of a STATE that's out of control. Does it really matter if the people kicking in your door are from DHS or the local police force? Same tactics, same equipment, same overreach of the state threatening your life. The DHS could disappear tomorrow and we'd still have the same problem. The people and the government are circling each other right now. It's not the time to be mollified that it's happening; it's time to start thinking rationally and accessing the situation.
