Blowback: Ammo Shortages and Gun Dealers

But the other thing I realized is that the blowback of the nationwide lack of ammo is that THOUSANDS of gun dealers will be forced out of business because of their lack of cash flow. I spoke to one of the store employees this morning, and that store has NO IDEA when they can expect shipments of ammo. It’s not like they are back-ordered with a confirmed ship date. How do you run a ammunition business without inventory? If you are a dealer that sells a lot of ammo, and you cannot get ammo from ANY source, there goes your business.

Stalinist commies are buying up all the arms and ammo. They'll show the militia a thing or two.

What's a matter maline, no bullwats?

Just my bayonet and five rounds.

Do you suppose this was done on purpose? Nah, can't be.

All is proceeding as the regime in Washington has foreseen.

Or as they say in the software biz, "That's not a bug. That's a feature!"

Buy bullets, primers and powder. I"m sure empty brass will be plentiful.

Exactly as I predicted.. and I believe the shortage is intentionally created for that very purpose..
The Traitors are responsible and the big ammo companies with their govt contracts and importers are their accomplices.. if you dont have it now there's only one way to restock.

Well, as I have indicated at other sites regarding this issue, we need to encourage the ammo manufacturers to stop supplying the government with these huge orders; maybe a little myopic on my part. But, if ammo manufacturers would start uniting and say we are not going to sell to a government that has in its agenda anti-gun, anti-second amendment intent against its citizens.

It is within our sincerest regrets to inform all of you that due to the economic times, current gun industry, and governmental decision makings, that effective immediately (March 15th, 2013), Artillery Shed is no longer in business. We made a solid three year run opening on March 1st, 2010, but can no longer make it. We have made some great friends, met good people, and proudly serviced many of you. For that we thank you, and will miss you all! Please stay in touch, good luck with everything, stand fast and be safe!

If you are dependent upon the stores for your ammunition supply, you might as well give up now. Set yourself free, get yourself set up to make your own and keep a deep stack of components. The lives of your fellow patriots may depend on you once the hammer falls and the final tyranny is upon us.

"ammo manufacturers to stop supplying the government with these huge orders"

How would that work for ATK who is in the business of operating US Gov's sole remaining ammo plant at Lake City?

Anonymous said...

What are the chances of the workers at ATK going on STRIKE?

Might have to go back to flints, charcoal, sulphur, nitrate from the crypt and lead from the church roof!

Worked once before ...

Why not a national neighborhood reloading day?

My local cops can't get ammo.
Their quals are cut to the bone.
I think that's a good thing.

Well I have a litle different take on this. I read about gun shows where there are thousands of people and they are walking out with many thousands of rounds. Of course, the price is greatly expanded. I have heard Wolf steel case ammo $800 a thousand and watched 5.56 on strippers in the cardboard bringing $1 a round.

Now I know that this is a capitalist society, but late comers are having a hard time procuring their shit. I have already found several companies that I will never do business with again. When greed overcomes all else then the people who don't make a lot of money are the real losers. I would rather have those people have 500 rounds or so at a reasonable cost. Others who have 20,000 rounds and want more should stop being so greedy and let someone else have some.

Just saying....

Foothills Firearms llc in business since 2006 is closing permanently this weekend.
Do not believe for a minuet the ammo manufacturers and Govt are in this together.
Looking forward to something different, the gun business sucks.

I haven't made my gun store rounds in a month or so. But your assessment is in line with what I observed in February.

Dakota, that sounds like our current administration... you have more than enough and more than your fair share, so you can't have any more.

Serious? Your complacency going into 2012, or lack of foresight, is not MY problem. And I seriously doubt guys with 20,000 rounds already are causing the big shortages... it's the guys who opened the newspaper this morning and realized that half box of 9mm leftover from their last trip to the range last August JUST ISN'T GOING TO BE ENOUGH.

Just sayin'.

There is not much I can do to help ammo makers but Patriots can help their local gun shops stay afloat even when they are low/out of ammo by continuing to patronize their business. The do sell stuff other than just ammo. Spare parts, accessories, paint, reloading supplies, etc. We are all in this together.

Locally there is no ammo to be had except for some 12 & 20 gauge bird shot.

If the ammo companies are making ammo 24/7 where the hell is it?

Why are we not seeing ammo come in from Russia?

I know some people don’t like Russian Bear and Wolf Ammo or even the Tula stuff but hell it would shoot!

What about components?

Trying to buy powder or primers locally is like finding hens teeth

Dear Dakota,

Make friends with the people who planned way ahead in 1999 and filled their basements with pallets of imported 7.62x51 and 7.62x39 at 7 cents a round. When it's time, they will make certain you have rare metals you need.

Cross fingers and hope for "not time, yet."

Garden and PT, because you can afford to do that. Practice precision rifle techniques that don't take much ammo.

Cheers.

This seems familiar. I have heard this construction before. Something like, "I know that the 2nd Amendment recognizes a right to bear arms, but..."

Ain't no buts about it. A free market is a free market, and sellers may charge what they please. Anything else is fascism or socialism.

Shortages ALWAYS bring high prices in a free market. That is what they are SUPPOSED to do. High prices in a shortage guarantee that the item in question goes to the person who values it the highest. In this case, it would be newbies who have to build up starting from zero. That is what we WANT to happen.

Of course the shameful lack of understanding of free market economics is to be expected. They teach socialism and fascism in government schools after all.

Never done this before, but planning on lobbying AZ governor and legislators on relocating Colt et al. to "gun friendly" AZ. Same for ammo mfrs., else the feds have disarmed us by fiat.

Back in December Semper Fi, 0321 and his supporter RegT were wailing "PRICE GOUGING" over price increases resulting from this current bout of Prog induced stupidity.

They claimed they would not patronize companies that gouged them.

Stores that took their advice may not make it. But at least the Reg and Semps of the world were kept happy.
To bad they may have no store to buy from.
