Commenting upon the obvious. Josh Gerstein speculates Burke's political career in AZ is over. Ya Think?

"The 'Gun Lobby' and Dennis Burke's future."

Burke—a politically-connected and savvy former chief of staff to Janet Napolitano both when she was Arizona Governor and in her current post as Secretary of Homeland Security—has apologized to Grassley, who seems to have accepted.

However, in a state like Arizona — where even Democrats tend to take strong pro-gun and anti-gun control positions — railing against the influence of the "Gun Lobby," its "stooges," "lax laws," and "greedy gun shop owners" seems like political poison for Burke, barring a dramatic change in public opinion in that state on gun issues.

I rather think at this point Burke is more worried about spending time in federal prison.

I don't think he's worried about prison at all. I am completely jaded anymore. I don't think anyone will be held to account for F&F.

A recent Politico article makes it clear that the Regime is raising the ghost of Burke from the political grave in order to pin the F&F "mistakes" of the DOJ directly to his formerly powerful and immune hide. It's an interesting read.

Everybody seems to be missing Jason Weinstein's email in October as they were about to indict Tucson gun traffickers - specifically pointing to the gun walking. He then drafted the letter for Weich and allowed the denial of gun walking that he had openly discussed as they considered the fallout from revealing the fast and furious DOJ policy for, at that time, the past 12 months.

I'd say Weinstein is right in there with Burke and Hoover.
