A slick attack on a class of weaponry designed to build support for choking off imports.

"Romanian Weapons Modified in the U.S. Become Scourge of Mexican Drug War."

I still think this snippet from the article is more than a little interesting:

Reports from the Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) show that over the last four years, more than 500 of the WASR-10s imported into the United States by Century were recovered in Mexico after being purchased in the United States. That is the most of any rifle or pistol purchased, recovered and traced during that four-year span, accounting for more than 17% of the total guns recovered, the reports show.

If 500 guns represents "17% of the total guns [from the U.S.] recovered," that means that fewer than 3,000 guns from the U.S. have been recovered--over a four year period.

"Project Gunwalker" is moving more ordnance, faster, than that.

If you read far enough you'll see this, "This story was funded in part by a grant from the Joyce Foundation."

BIG surprise? Not!

Lots of disinformation...

Guess I'm going to have to hack, spit, and sign up for a Facebook account just so I can comment on this sort of idiocy.

Bastards.

and two guns made by Fabrique Nationale Herstal of Belgium, including a sleek, compact rifle called the PS-90.

This needs to be talked about.

The PS-90, in semi-auto form, is still an NFA firearm. Full-auto versions aren't even available to civilians since they're post-86.

How...how...I can't even put how stupid this is into words. It is by far the most regulated class of firearm, one that you can't even take out of your state without notifying the ATF. I mean, what? What are these idiots talking about?

Also, I don't care how sophisticated these cartels might be, I doubt that they have the resources at all to be able to modify something like the PS-90 to fire in full auto. It's not something your local gunsmith can even work on, let alone modify for full auto, if that is even possible for something like the PS-90. Where can they even get parts for it?

It's not like these are coming from China or somewhere in South America, oh no.

"X Caliber...in Phoenix, Ariz...was shuttered after authorities arrested owner George Iknadosian for conspiracy, money laundering and fraud, among other alleged crimes. The charges against him were later dismissed."

So he was charged with "alleged crimes" but those charges were dropped. Could the real story be that the ATF trumped up phony charges against an innocent man?

Anyone else here notice that in the little red bar graph, the imports of assault rifles AND handguns were included in the numbers?
