Brown shirts would have been more fitting for several reasons.

Am I a bitter American who is struggling with a tough economy, with too much time on my hands, or do the Obamas look like a family who has just won $285M from the first and only Powerball ticket they ever bought?

The family staying over so that they can come back on a different USGov jumbo jet so that an 8th B-day is spent shopping (privately in a closed store) in Paris. AF1/Marine1 trips here and there (not looking like Official Business).

Where is the collective austerity that the US is feeling? Oh, yeah. Chicago rules.

There was a BBC program in 2007 with Adam Curtis called The Trap, pt1 title is "F**k You, Buddy". The UK is ahead of us on the curve, but the plan is the same for us.

Cheers.

Brown shirts? More fitting maybe, but Obama's minions wore blue, and I think all of us get the brown shirt reference in context.

Excellent, excellent snark.

As I may have stated earlier, the
"blue" shirt is historically inappropriate. Another symptom of rampant confusion. Alas, his minions may have worn blue.

YA books have a reputation for dealing with "difficult" topics, provided everything turns out for the best in 200 pages. Take a look at one recent publication,

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, from IIRC Scholastic. A glimpse of the future?

Have also been thinking of looking up Xenophon again. Students of military history will recall that his army of mercenaries had to deal with the civilian population of much of Asia Minor, who could only view them as a "herd of locusts."
