"Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory" -- Hey, Nancy, inventory THIS.

"Don't point at me, Daddy-o; I'll cut off yer finger." -- Alvarado to People's Commissioner Tirebiter, on Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers, by Firesign Theatre, 1970.

Bringing new meaning to the term "Nanny State", San Fran Nan has told the Chinese that the global warming "crisis" is an "opportunity for climate change to be ... a game-changer . . . It's a place where human rights — looking out for the needs of the poor in terms of climate change and healthy environment — are a human right."

From the AP story, "Pelosi appeals for China's help on climate change," here:

To achieve this, Pelosi said governments would have to make decisions and choices based on science. "They also have to do it with openness, transparency and accountability to the people," she said. "Everyone has to have their situation improved by it."

In answering a question from a student about how Pelosi was going to get Americans to cut back on their carbon emissions, the leading Democratic lawmaker said it was important to educate children on how to conserve energy and for citizens to build more environmentally friendly homes. "We have so much room for improvement," she said. "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory ... of how we are taking responsibility."

I reckon this is along the lines of Ray LaHood's promise to "coerce" us out of our cars.

Now, I know that some folks would tell Nancy to take her nanny state inventory and shove it up her chocolate whiz-wang. But not me.

Hey, Nancy, I'm taking responsibility for my environmental actions. If you're going to subject ME to an inventory, just be sure and inventory THIS.

Hmmm, there's a thought. What IS the carbon footprint of an M14-series rifle? What sort of "cap and trade" is involved? And what would Pico and Alvarado make of that?

Slave labor, forced abortions to enforce one-child-per-family, annexing neighboring countries and occupying them, mass killing of democracy supporters in a public square of the capital city, torturing members of a meditation sect... these are not human rights issues to Pelosi, but "green" construction and energy production and use are? The Chinese and WE in our servitude will feel better about it knowing we are preserving the planet so future generations of humans can enjoy even MORE environmentally-friendly oppression?
Many Chinese use coal in cast-iron stoves for heat. How about let's get them up to an early-*20th*-century standard of technology AND FREEDOM and THEN worry about the environment?
Not to mention that global Depression thing...
And North Korea. Korea threatens missile attack, said CNN news last night. They starve their people to build nukes. But do they use low-wattage flourescent bulbs in their detention camps? Nancy cares.
Well, Nancy, they have trouble preserving green space. The people eat the grass, you out-of-touch twit.

I suspect that the carbon-footprint of an M1A is unmeasurable until yoou pull the trigger, then it goes up real fast.

Any battle rifle has a negligible carbon-footprint, as long as it is in the safe. With a wooden stock and being made mostly of high-carbon steel, there may be some decent argument that it is a "carbon storage device".

The point of a rifle is to project pellets accurately at a stand-off distance from invading hordes. If sufficient numbers of the hordes can be converted to soil-enriching bone meal (and repairable military surplus ie:"rifle & pack, dropped once"), more "green" farming can be done in the future without external fertilizer.

There's gonna be a fight. Got range cards? Let's win.

M14s are carbon negative.

Every eco-twit shot with one has their lifetime carbon foot print drop to zero immediately.

Re: Defender:

Pelosi doesn't care about freedom and rights. This whole "enviromental" thing is just another ploy to give Pelosi more media coverage and more fame. She doesn't care about these blatant violations of rights still going on in China.

Re: Anonymous: LOL I doubt it though, since smokeless powder does not produce a lot of "greenhouse" gas, I think. Correct me if I am wrong.

Unconfined smokeless makes a lot of smelly vapor when burnt, but confined, with a strong primer it burns clean.

"cap and trade."

Bust a cap and watch them run to trade!(positions with someone else!)

The "footprints" will be them running, nevermind the carbon....

Nah, really stick it to Pelosi, skip the M-14 and go with actual black powder as often as possible. Much better carbon footprint, although not as useful for the environment as burning old tires.

Shoot as much black powder as you can and burn tires whenever you can, we're in a period of global cooling and it'll lower all of our heating bills next winter.

I have to disagree with Anonymous. If used properly the M14 could reduce a lot of worthless liberal carbon.

I use black powder in all of my .45-70 silhouette handloads. I love keeping with the tradition of the hunters of the 1800s and of course, the economical benefits of using BP handloads as opposed to expensive factory loads.

Buffalo Bore makes several "Magnum" versions of the buffalo cartridge, but I never tried them because they are WAY too powerful for my tastes. I mean, a 405 grain bullet traveling at over 1500 fps is a little too much for a standard silhouette rifle to take.

That is why I like black powder. It is also natural: all components of BP exist in Nature, and I like to keep it traditional :D

Only downside to BP: sulphuric acid. If you don't clean your gun immediately after using BP, the metal parts will look like an Abstract painting after a couple of hours. And by that, I don't mean in a good way at all.

Environmentally, BP does not cause any problems at all, maybe except some sulphur compounds, but these are present in such low quantitites they would not be able to create any acid rain or anything like that.

It'll up your methane footprint though, since all those rotting bodies will be making quite a bit. And methane is a stronger greenhouse gas.

On the other hand, that gives us a new source of cooking fuel...

I have no problem with telling her to insert her idiotic inventory deeply into her anal orifice.

Only problem I see is - her head is already taking up most of the room.

I take it we all feel the same way about the new national cybersecurity czar? The Internet Big Brother, pal to both the Department of Homeland Security and No Such Agency?
Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to warrantless taps, traps and traces.
In "Fiddler on the Roof," the Russian villagers of Anatevka ask their rabbi if there is a proper blessing for the Czar.
"May God bless and keep the Czar... far away from us!"

Don't worry, Nancy. When you die, YOUR life will be inventoried by the Lord God. Somehow, I don't think you'll fare so well.
