Rumor: "Old Yellowstain" Boehner set to sell out Issa and contempt vote by a deal on documents.

This is a rumor which I cannot confirm to my satisfaction but it comes from two previously well-connected sources: Boehner is set to deal away the contempt vote in the full House for less than the minimum discovery that Darrell Issa has set.

Said one source, "Romney wants this to go away, so the RNC wants it to go away, and they're putting more pressure on Boehner who never wanted to get this far down the road in the first place but he's been pushed along by Issa and the stand-up guys on his committee." He added, "The NRA making this a 'scored' vote means that if it comes to a vote, it will happen with as many as two or three dozen Democrats as well. The leadership now thinks that the only way for this to 'go away' like Romney wants is to short-circuit the vote."

The other source agreed, although he was less certain that Boehner could get away with it without losing his Speakership. "The Trey Gowdy's of the committee will make sure that everybody understands the nature of the sell-out. Boehner can make Romney and the RNC happy, but it may cost him his job as Speaker."

Issa may have been hinting at just this outcome because on the Sunday shows he insisted that even if the contempt vote didn't take place, that his committee's investigations would continue.

So there you have it, all the rumor that's fit to print -- for now.

The latest adventures of "Old Yellowstain" Boehner and his apparent cravenly campaign to sell-out the search for justice in the Gunwalker Conspiracy Investigation began here in the New York Times yesterday with a story by White House lickspittle Charlie Savage headlined: "Boehner Aides in Talks With Justice Dept. on Gun-Running Inquiry."

As Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. prepares to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, Justice Department officials praised the House Republican leadership – including Speaker John Boehner – for opening negotiations with the Justice Department about resolving a dispute over subpoenaed information related to the botched gun-trafficking investigation dubbed Operation Fast and Furious.

The move comes as Representative Darrell Issa, the California Republican who is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, has threatened to hold Mr. Holder in contempt over the subpoena, which he issued last fall. It suggests that administration officials see a potential conflict between Mr. Issa and Mr. Boehner over pushing forward with a contempt citation.

Deputy Attorney General James Cole said in a letter on Tuesday to Mr. Boehner and other House Republican leaders that their staffs in recent weeks “have had a number of constructive conversations” that held out the prospect of a “mutually acceptable resolution of these issues.” He said those conversations “stand in contrast” with the tone Mr. Issa had adopted, including in a letter of his own on Tuesday.

The same day this story appeared at the LE Examiner:"GOP backing down from Holder contempt resolution."

Early this morning, Matthew Boyle of the Daily Caller ran this semi-rebuttal from the Boehner people -- "Boehner spokesman: NY Times story about Holder Fast and Furious compromise is false."

After The Daily Caller reached out to Savage for comment, pointing out how Boehner’s office said his article was false, The New York Times edited his story removing the statement Boehner’s office said was false and changing the focus of the article, while adding a quote from Boehner’s spokesman. The online version of the article contains no correction or explanation as to why Savage’s story was changed after the fact. A note tells readers the article was “updated” at 11:39 p.m.

Savage has still not returned TheDC’s request for comment on why he printed false information to begin with and why he made no effort to contact Boehner’s office to check the veracity of his unattributed claims before printing the inaccurate information.

So, what are we to believe about all of this? When it comes to Boehner, believe exactly dick. All he has to do to dispel such talk is to fast track the contempt citation for Holder. Has he? Of course not. So don't believe a damn word from Boehner, his lips are moving.

Waste-of-Time Hearing Demonstrates GOP Impotence Once Again. In fact, to call this an exercise in limp-dickery is an insult to honest limp-dicks everywhere.

They were all disloyal. I tried to run the ship properly by the book, but they fought me at every turn. If the crew wanted to walk around with their shirttails hanging out, that's all right, let them! Take the towline - defective equipment, no more, no less. But they encouraged the crew to go around, scoffing at me and spreading wild rumors about steaming in circles and then 'Old Yellowstain.' I was to blame for Lieutenant Issa's incompetence and poor seamanship. Lieutenant Issa was the perfect officer, but not Captain Boehner. Ah, but the strawberries! That's, that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt, and with, with geometric logic, that, that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox did exist. And I would have produced that key if they hadn't pulled the GOP leadership out of action. I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow officer. . . Naturally, I can only cover these things from memory. . . But I know for sure I didn't cut a deal with Admiral Obama.

Bullshit, Michelle. Sorry, I respect you for your early support on the Gunwalker Scandal, but that's bullshit. Either the Obamanoid criminal pukes win the election, in which case the investigation gets buried, or the Romney-Boehner-McConnell Cabal of GOP Weenies wins the election, in which case the investigation gets buried.

The only hope in DC is for Issa to break ranks with his leadership and begin leaking the damning documents he certainly has to CBS and FOX. And if he doesn't, he's complicit too.

There is, of course, one last hope after that fails --- that the people can motivate these weasels by threatening to overturn Romney's political applecart. More on that tomorrow. Right now I want to go puke.

Influential Republicans say the current political environment has terrified dozens of lawmakers who support Boehner but fear that another vote to back the beleaguered speaker could lead to a backlash from conservatives in their districts. “This is a continuation of the strange virus that’s running through the Republican Party, which I define as a weird form of right-wing Marxism where people are using Saul Alinsky-type tactics,” said Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), a Boehner confidant, likening the conservatives to the late radical activist from the 1960s.

Well, Boehner's resignation is far too late for me and especially far too late for the Fast and Furious investigation that he derailed because the FBI was blackmailing him. Long-time readers will recall that when the Issa committee got around to noticing the fact, uncovered by this blog and FOX News' William La Jeunesse, that the middle men who the ATF agents were forbidden by their superiors from following (the ones who actually transported the weapons across the border) were the Miramontes brothers who were paid FBI informants, that Boehner intervened and used every bit of his influence to choke off further inquiry.

In fact, this may have played a role in Boehner's decision to resign. Caveat lector: I have only a single source for the following statement but it is a source that has proven reliable in the past. In the meeting with conservative members of his caucus the day before, Boehner insisted that he wasn't going to fight for the defunding of Planned Parenthood. The meeting then turned stormy, with promises to have a vote to "vacate the chair." Boehner, according to this source, was still defiant until someone threatened to "tell what they knew about Fast and Furious and the FBI blackmail." Boehner, according to this source, "turned ashy white under that fake tan" and "looked stricken." He got "deathly quiet" and then changed the subject. Again, this is a single source statement, and I would put it in the class of rumor except for where it came from. The reader is invited to use his or her own judgment on that. I am simply reporting what I was told by a single source that I trust.

Well, let's hope Old Yellowstain caves, then.

Boehner, Undeterred, Moves Forward on Immigration

On Tuesday, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell told reporters immigration is just not in the cards in 2014. Last Thursday, rank-and-file House members sent a loud message at that President Obama is not the partner for legislation, spooking even top proponent Paul Ryan.

The editors from National Review, Weekly Standard, and numerous other top conservative pundits have urged the Ohio Republican to cut it out.

However, since the GOP retreat last week, Boehner has just kept marching along.

“I think leadership's focus and my focus is to get [immigration] done as early as possible,” said Rep. Jeff Denham of California, who Boehner recently met with on the issue.

“It's part of our conference agenda right now. It doesn't go on the agenda without scheduling bills and scheduling time on the floor,” Denham added.

However: "Boehner on the brink: Speakership coup brewing over immigration."

Rep. Raul Labrador said House Speaker John Boehner should lose his leadership post if he pushes forward with immigration reform this year, CQ Roll Call reported.

“I think it should cost him his speakership,” Mr. Labrador, Idaho Republican, said in an interview with the Capitol Hill news organization.

Mr. Labrador also refused to rule out running to replace Mr. Boehner — even if the Ohio Republican put the brakes on immigration bills.

“There is a hunger in the conference for bold, visionary leaders, and this is not just conservatives — you talk to more middle-of-the-road members of the conference, they’re kind of frustrated with the direction of this leadership, and they’re looking for ways to change that,” he told CQ Roll Call

Issa's offer to postpone the contempt vote: sellout or strategem? There's always time to upset the applecart.

Now, according to some of my sources, this is just Issa being crafty. The idea is that since he already has most of these emails, he's looking for the ones that Holder omits or edits -- an invitation for Holder to put his neck further in the noose.

Others, more skeptical, say that this is a "fold" which signals more weenie behavior on the part of "Old Yellowstain" Boehner.

Who to believe? We'll have to await events. It's still a long way to November so if this is a Romney-inspired sellout, we'll still have plenty of time to upset his applecart.
