"Snik, snik." All this GOP triumphalism makes me want to puke -- and ignores the central loss in the elections for liberty. AWR Hawkins & Breitbart smoking something.

"Snik, snik."
Obama now has had his "out-of-touch-with-reality" press conference. Meanwhile, the Dems are trying to figure out where they went wrong in losing the Senate and their House members are contemplating how long they will remain in the minority. Nancy Pelosi, in this analysis, may be the last Dem House Speaker for a very long time. The radio airwaves and the cable news channels are filled with GOP elite's triumphalism that makes me want to puke and ignores the central fact of the loss to liberty represented by the defeats in CO, CT and WA state.
They remind me of a winning poker player on the Titanic, reaching out to sweep in the pot just before the ship hits the iceberg.
Fact One: The economic and social system cannot stumble along forever. It WILL collapse. It has always been my hope that we could avoid civil war with the encroaching citizen disarmament tyranny long enough for the collapse to turn firearm owners into the most popular people in our communities. Not that I want to see it happen, but system collapse and anarchy will make our case that the armed citizenry are the only consistent guarantors of safety and liberty in this country. Come breakdown, our neighbors (and local authorities) will turn TO us, not on us.
Yet, what effects will such a calamity have on the current gloating winners of political lottery? Why they'll be stuck with the butcher's bill, and the political blame. They are celebrating now their own future (and wholly predictable) systemic collapse.
Fact Two: It seems that with the results of Tuesday, the emboldened petty tyrants of the state of Connecticut will be plunging ahead with their deadly raids and ignite a civil war. And how will the GOP elite react to that? Poorly, I suspect. Deliverance for the intended victims of Malloy and Lawlor will NOT come from the national GOP, nor their handmaidens the NRA.
The only sound that I hear, rising above the babble of triumphalist self-deception, is the rhythmic "snik, snik" of rifles being cleaned all over this country. If the civil war will come as a surprise to everyone else, it will not come as a surprise to those who have been paying attention.

Glad you posted this response. I came into work yesterday morning screeching about the results of Colorado, Conn. and Wash. Everyone here thought I had lost my mind....kept telling me how good the elections went with the Repubs spanking the Dumbos.

Thing is, the globalist leaders want a collapse, need a collapse, to further their globalist agenda of regional governments. Their argument will be, "of course it collapsed, nation-states are inherently risky and not stable, leading to wars for resources and monetary inflation" (ignore the fact that they engineered the whole collapse via fiat money and central bankster schemes). That's when the real push for a North American Union will be forced upon the people, and why they want our arms NOW.

When this war breaks out in Connecticut, and probably Colorado and Washington, you will see the leadership of both parties united against us.

The entire purpose of the "trade agreements" (TPP and TTIP) that Mitch McConnell expressed such willingness to work with Obama to pass, are to create the economic and legal systems for regional government and the end of our country and constitution.

See this link and associated links with in it:

http://americandictators.blogspot.com/2014/11/republicans-take-senate-mitch-mcconnell_5.html

This has been the overall plan all along as explained in this documentary:

http://americandictators.blogspot.com/2014/11/new-world-order-full-circle-2014.html

We need to get organized very quickly to face this evil. The globalists in both parties have been working on this plan for a very long time and have the support of governments around the world. We will need the support of every single American gun owner, including the Elmer Fudds. Our position is dire and we have wasted too much time working "within the system," a system designed to fail us; a system where there is no chance of getting a true "representative" of the people through the primary process and on the ballot.

Be angry all you want. Be disgusted. You should be angry. We should all be boiling with anger at the treachery and treason by both political parties in this country. Angry enough to begin the proper course of action; action that we must take now - while we still can.

It seems you would have preferred that the Democrats were still going to control the Senate. Unfortunately, we are always faced with having to vote for the lesser of two main evils. The Republicans are definitely the lesser of the two main evils, so what's wrong with rejoicing a little bit? A vote for a Libertarian is the same as a vote for a Democrat, because Libertarians almost always pull more votes from a Republican than from a Democrat. That's why I don't vote for Libertarians any more. It is damn near impossible for a Libertarian to get elected to any significant office anyway, so I vote Republican - straight ticket. Gotta be much better than the damned Democrats!

Alas, yes. This is like a long-running game of musical chairs, and when the music stops, the party in power will be held at fault.

Why in Hell would any sane person run for office? The answer can only be that they hope to be able to put one last Band-Aid on that sucking chest wound in hopes that the corpse lives one more second.

The only thing that keeps me from stocking up on rice and beans is that I expect to be the first casualty.

I can think of one silver lining on this dark cloud of empty "victory" and voter endorsement of more GOP uselessness.

As gun owners across the nation nod back to sleep, secure in the knowledge that all danger has passed, expect to find affordable bulk .22 LR back on store shelves :D

The results are actually mixed here in Colorado. Yes, Hickenlooper survived by the skin of his teeth, and this is cause for grief, but the state legislature took a sharp rightward swing, and Senator Udall is on the express bus to the unemployment line.

That said, I think the most worrisome event is the success of I-594 in WA state. I believe voter initiatives will be the model for future anti-gun attacks, because all our enemies have to do is find an issue that polls above 50% at the moment, and they don't have to rely on an entire legislative majority of politicians risking their political hides against the electoral wrath of gun owners.

Therefore, public education will be key. The trend of opinion polls has been in our favor, and we need to make more of this happen. The loss of JPFO hurt us badly in this area, but there are things we can do.

Hit the online comments sections on anti-gun editorials. Avoid name-calling and just offer well-reasoned counterpoints. Point out things that will resonate with Dem voters: the racist legacy of gun control; this nation's plunging crime rate in the face of rising gun ownership and state-level CCW reform; statistics regarding female victims of crime, armed vs disarmed; talk about black civil rights battles, Black Panthers (not the New Black Panthers). Do your research, provide links from unimpeachable sources, avoid unverifiable claims no matter how much you think they're true or how much they'd help your argument.

Befriend a liberal at school or at work. Take him/her shooting. Answer questions to the best of your ability, and be prepared to show patience in the face of the inevitable ignorance you'll encounter. Don't take yourself too seriously, just do what should come naturally for anyone reading this blog -- have a great time plinking. Enjoyment is contagious.

Even if you don't speak a single word of gun politics while at the range or out in the sticks shooting soda cans, merely being able to provide detailed instruction on safety rules and demonstrating strict adherence to same will do more to dispel stereotypes of irresponsible trigger-happy gun nuts than an eternity of debate ever will. Your object should not be to make a convert in one outing, but to dispel fear and unfamiliarity, have a good time, and nurture a desire to do it again soon.

However, there are some things that shouldn't be made too fun or easy. Living in a state with asinine requirements like magazine locks? Adhere zealously to the letter of the law, and watch your shooting partner's frustrated disbelief as he/she struggles to pull the magazine free with one hand, operate the magazine lock with the other hand, and hold the rifle with a third hand. 10-round restriction? Perfect - don't bring your blocked 20- or 30-rounders that are easy to grip. Use honest-to-god 10-round shorty mags that barely stick out of the magazine well. 922(r) issues with a particular firearm? Point them out, explaining that swapping certain near-identical parts makes one a felon, depending whether the parts are made in the US. Even better if you have another US-made version of the same for contrast. Let your companion struggle with the stupidity of it all and come to his/her own angry conclusions as to whether jumping through such preposterous regulatory hoops honestly makes anyone safer, even in the unlikely event that any half-sane criminal could ever be expected to subject himself to such degradation.

Do it smoothly, and you won't have to express one single opinion.

Don't expect it to work instant miracles, but it does work. It took years, but it worked on me.

Cheers,

Every gun owner (former!) that they can felonize is one less voter as well.

How can gun owners liewise reduce the number of Dumbo voters?

THAT is the question for which there is but two years to find an answer to ... and implement!

Up here in the UNConstitution State the DNC were bussing people from the projects in to the polls in Bridgeport and Hartford and with the polls in Hartford being kept open till 20:30 because of the supposed delay of the registered voter list in ObaMalloys district it guaranteed that his constituants were awake and able to make the busses, beside the fact that they were letting people just sign a list and vote at first!
This time around I was able to get 36 people that would not have
normally voted to the polls with something as simple as a ride!
There is a documented case of a man upstate that was actually turned away from the polls for wearing a CCDL tee shirt until getting a cop to bring him in to the polls to vote Unbelievable!
In my town polls I was complimented on my NRA life member hat with a CCDL Badge on its side, In my 50+ years I can't believe the total disregard by the people for what these Scumbags
are doing to Our Rights,But then again Those who are Ignorant of history are condemned to repeat it!

If people are cleaning their rifles, in most cases, it's just so they can hand in a nice shiny one. The odds on any sort of mass rebellion are below negligible, unfortunately.

I agree this will be the strategy, just like the initiative in Oregon (and Colorado?) a while back for background checks at gun shows.

But you know what? In the end it will not matter. People will start ignoring laws, or simply put up with them. They will never be able to crank up the annoyance factor high enough to stop people wanting guns, and now everybody wants them, not just conservatives. Guess what, the government already knows who owns guns (NICS anyone?). When half or 3/4 of the population owns them, the information will do them no good.

Registration is not, and never was, the line in the sand. Confiscation is. When that happens, we are at war. That should be as true at the individual level as at the collective level. We don't need to worry about when other people go to war. We just need to be clear when we (individually) are going to war.

Yeah, defeatism is a great help for the coming revolution. Why don't you do your gun prohibitionist boot-licking in private? We don't want to see it.

Anonymous @ 4:19 - I am HOPING that the guy in the picture is pulling the rod OUT, having put the rod down the barrel, placed the patch onto the rod in the breech, and then withdrawing it. You are right, you don't want loose, juicy gunk dribbling down into the bolt or trigger group.

Perhaps the additional hassle, fees, and intimidation will be overcome, but I cannot agree that it will simply "not matter". IMAO it has become apparent that a key aspect of our enemies' strategy is to do everything they can to discourage people from getting into shooting. Make it more expensive, make it more time-consuming, make it more confusing, make it more legally hazardous to take a newbie out shooting... whatever they can codify into a "common sense" bill.

Perhaps this has been overcome by a massive grass-roots effort to introduce new shooters to the hobby. Perhaps it's been due to the renaissance in firearms brain-share from people and organizations such as Kleck, Lott, and JPFO. Perhaps there are still enough Americans who are just so irredeemably implacably defiantly contrarian that the only possible way for government to steer them away from firearms would be to pass a law requiring them to own at a minimum of 3 guns and visit the local range at least once a month.

I'd guess it's been a combination of all of the above. It's immensely dangerous to just assume that our enemies' efforts will fail. They may indeed fail, but we need to play our part.

Have you taken a liberal to the range lately? :)
