Next time, lady, make sure there's one in the chamber.
WNEM in Georgia reports that "Deputies (say) Woman takes matter into own hands during home invasion."
Now that's just too funny right there, for if you read the story you come across this:
That's when she told investigators the second man straddled her and began beating her in the face, using racial slurs such as "stupid white (expletive)." But Walker then said she grabbed the man by the testicles and caused him to fall over on her. She then grabbed him by the throat and began choking him. "I head-butted him, then grabbed his privates and I reached up an started choking him," she recalled.
Now that's the first time I've heard of testicles referred to as mere "matter." I suspect that the headline writer had his tongue firmly in cheek when he penned that.
Be sure and read the story, where there are a number of lessons to be learned, including being certain that you pull the trigger on a loaded chamber.

Ah yes, reminds me of "the old days". I'm that 57 year old, retired female boxer in upstate NY. I used to have a saying back then when i lived in Brooklyn and rode the subways quite often that was inspired from the old TV show "The Naked City": "There are 8 million sparing partners in the naked City, and you are one!"....Kudos to this brave woman, loaded or not...
A 12 gauge is perhaps the worlds most devastating weapon when used up close. Leaving a round in the chamber means that the weapon remains cocked as well. Very dangerous scenario in a house with kids. Then there's the problem of remembering to disengage the safety in a bad situation that will be over in seconds.
So, what to do? The solution I use on my Mossy model 930 semi-auto, (18" barrel and extended 7 round ammo tube), is to keep a less than lethal, rubber slug round in the chamber under a cocked hammer, safety off.
That first round just may convince the bad guy that it ain't worth the risk of getting another one of those hard rubber slugs in the chest and just leave.
Unfortunately for him, I don't have another rubber slug round in the ammo tube. The second round is a mil spec double "0" buffered battle round and will cut him in half.
Hope he learns fast.
I remember telling my wife one day after reading about a similar encounter that didn't go so well, "if you ever find yourself in her shoes, you fight for all your worth. bury your thumb in his eye socket and pop it out. Or pull his penis off." At that she looked at me sort of strange, so I told her "You never give up. Don't wait to see if what you're doing is going to have any affect. You move right on to the next attack. Trust me, you pull hard enough, pants or no pants, on a man's member... it will come off." She understood the concept, but the belief that SHE could attack wasn't there, so we've got some work to do there.
This woman in Georgia had the required mindset: 'you will not take me.' She very nearly lost the fight a couple of times, but she NEVER gave up. That's the most important thing in the world... never give up, EVER!
Nice to see a little courage and determination in this world, for a change.
The only reason to stop fighting is victory.
With revolvers you can have the hammer down on an empty chamber and still ventilate the target with a single trigger pull.
Let's give credit where it's due; she didn't quit, she didn't surrender. OK, she messed up, but at least she's around to facepalm about it.
