Score one for the militia.

He’s described as quiet, gentle, outdoorsy; a young man of deep Christian faith and dedicated student on the cusp of a promising life beyond college. But by several accounts Thursday, a single word prevailed when describing Seattle Pacific University student Jon Meis: hero.

If all he had was pepper spray, he's not
that well prepared. No reflection on him,
but NO ONE should think the outcome was
more than lucky.

Look up Bradford Wiles story about the
2006 drill at Virginia Tech.

Don't come down on the man. I work at a university and it is felony to carry weapons on campus. I'm limited to pepper spray and a pocket knife with less than 3" blade. I just hope that with those two tools I could acquit myself as well in a similar scenario.

Anony@8:23 - it is doubtful that the school would have allowed him to act as a monitor if he carried a slung carbine, Beretta 92 and inverted KBar on a tactical vest. One would imagine that he carried whatever was allowed, and furthermore, I think that it displays his courage even more that he used what was available to take down an armed gunman who was perhaps only fractions of a second away from achieving reload and continuing to fire,

Watch for the inevitable spin from the powers that be: See, you stupid Reichwingers, you don't need your dangerous guns. Pepper spray is all you need to defeat a criminal.

Taking nothing from the guy's brave act, but the event will definitely be used as "irrefutable proof" that guns are not necessary.

I think he was probably as prepared as he legally could be on yet another "criminal protection zone" popularly referred to as a gun free zone.

What is said is that was all he was able to have and we see yet again that the "no guns" sign didn't do a damn thing to stop the killer from coming in, but left the hero with pepper spray! Not exactly a fair fight.

I commend the guy for showing true courage. I can't remember who said it, but it is true, courage isn't about being unafraid, it is about being afraid, but doing what needs doing anyway. This man showed that in spades.

He has faith in Christ, that makes him more heavily armed than a superpower.

After looking at his FB page, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a concealed carry permit but wasn't allowed to carry in a gun free zone. The news will never report that, though.
