Sure such actions are bloody. Without a doubt villagers - likely many of them - died in that engagement. But I would be surprised to learn that more villagers died than Boko Haram. I would also be surprised if the surviving villagers did not collect the weapons, ammunition and other useful supplies from the dead Boko Haram. I would also be surprised to learn that the villagers got rid of that tank and the other vehicles - as well as any others which might have been lost by Boko Haram in that battle.
What makes anyone think American rebels could not do the same thing? All the while hunter-killer teams would be going after local - and national - political leaders and media talking heads. Nobody wants war - civil or otherwise. But some consider laying down their own lives to be a small price to pay to give their children and grandchildren a chance to live in freedom.
I once overheard a conversation in a Gander Mountain between two guys when the ammo shortage first started. Their worry was naturally the lack of ammo should the SHTF. I pretty much suggested there would be plenty of available ammo using the logic this article suggests..Armed thugs lying motionless on the ground no longer have any need for ammo...And yes, most Americans are fat, lazy slobs watching the tube and clueless about freedom. But that's why we're the 3%. Not the 30% or the majority. If they want to kiss butt on their knees so be it. I know for a fact, without dillusion, that i would much rather die fighting than on my knees. Maybe it's because i've already lived 2/3 of my natural lifespan and no longer care. Maybe it's because growing up in Brooklyn not fighting when necessary lead to a life where you'd be afraid to even leave your house anymore as a teenager due to the daily beatings that would then ensue back in the 70's. i know there's others like me. And we'll be the big pain-in-the-ass that just keep coming. Perfect description was in "Casino" when DeNiro describes the character "Nicky". "Beat him with your fists, and Nicky comes back with a bat, beat him with a knife and he comes back with a gun. And if you bring a gun you better kill him 'cause he's gonna keep coming back 'till one of you are dead"....
The Marines must be in the country. Every time they show up the second amendment suddenly appears. They used the same technique in Anbar Province in Iraq. They arm the locals and lead them on the attack. This was an attack not a defensive move.
