"Is NRA lying to members, or does it not remember its own alert?"

Seems like a good question.

Is the federally-required background check (NICS) for gun buyers not enough fot North Carolina? That seems to be a greater problem than The NRA. Besides, I don't see how a Sheriff could change that requirement. I think it would require the NC Legislature. I do know The NRA's policy is to not endorse a candidate they think cannot get elected. Maybe that's what's going on here.

This has become standard operating for the Lairds of Fairfax. The arrogance and hypocrisy of the NRA has become most unacceptable. It is time to clean house and end the reign of $1+ million salaried La Pierre.

The NRA is OPPOSED to the FEDERALLY CONSTITUTED preemption that removes from the hands of government the power to decide on a case by case basis whether a RIGHT is really worth insisting upon. This is evidenced by its support for state level preemption OF the Second Amendment enumeration.

The NRA is INDEED the biggest and best disguised GUN CONTROL group. They are engrained in government control and will and do throw money and support at candidates who also support government control over our gun rights.

This is just another example of how the NRA goes about SCREWING its own membership. I hope this example wakes some people up.

Old greybeard, last year the NC state senate voted to end the pistol purchase permit for all privately sold non ffl handguns sold. The house was set to vote on it, and the sheriff's went ballistic bc they make a lot of money and have a lot of power with current system. This sheriff opposed the senate bill publicly, as many did, making sure it was defeated.

The NRA issued an alert last year blasting this very sheriff for attacking the bill in public, and now they are endorsing him claiming he wants the bill repealed. Thomas Thillis, who the NRA has endorsed for the us senate race already, was the man who put a stop to the hill in the state nc house. So the NRA is endorsing the very people who stopped the pistol purchase repeal by claiming they want it repealed, nevermind that just a few months ago they had their chance.

Screw the NRA.

Greybeard sez:"I do know The NRA's policy is to not endorse a candidate they think cannot get elected."

---The NRA, like virtually all the 'Republican voters' I know, needs somebody to tell them the difference between voting in an election and wagering on a horse race.

I do believe the NRA and LaPierre have gone demoncrat on us.

I plan to renounce my life membership in the near future and just buy more ammo - it'll be a better investment, I feel.

There is a long tradition in USA politics/psyops.

If an organization is effective: CO-OPT IT!

It's been done with every organization imaginable, become effective at political action or disseminating information, money and influence will buy in and start to -subtlety- steer things to their proper ends.

NPR, now running off funds provided by corporate contributors? (Sorry, folks- they're not commies. They're corporatists.)

NRA, now in bed with K street, trying to maintain a happy status quo and making "reasonable compromises" to stay on good terms with politicians? Not really a new thing, they've been this way all along. Remember FFA 1938? GCA 1968? Couldn't really call it being co-opted.

frank in ok - instead of buying ammo with it, buy a lifetime membership in the GOA. As Ron Paul has said, they are the only no compromise lobby in DC for gun rights - and they were the main reason the NRA was forced to not sell us out last year, as they had tried to do behind the scenes.
