More on the Weinstein anti-NRA film

The Weinstein Co., Meryl Streep To Take Down NRA In ‘The Senator’s Wife’

What caught my eye was the accusation that "the NRA robocalled the parents of murdered children..", something I've never heard before. (I think it was the writer, Anita Bush, not Weinstein who makes the accusation, the post is hard to read.) When the old propaganda doesn't work make up new propaganda...

Sounds Fabulous!

I hope they invest hundreds of $$millions in it.

None of the movies mentioned has changed anything in Washington. Nor will this one. I remain NRA all the way!
The anti gun Hollywood crowd can kiss my grass.

Weinstein is perfectly happy to make loads of money off of "splatter fest" movies like D'Jango Unchained, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, Rambo(!) and more... I've watched them all.

But now he's got a problem with US citizens in the real world having ANY guns, at all? And he's going to DO something about it???!

I've long known that a film artist or director/producer's genius and deeper understanding tend to be limited to their art and craft. So I don't hold the opinions of these various media people in any particular regard once they leave the topic of their work... But as long as they are not expressed in a way that causes me difficulty, financial or personal loss, they are due as much respect as anyone's.

Opinions are like ***holes, everyone has them and most are certain everyone but their own stinks. If it doesn't pick my pocket or break my leg, believe what you wish and go in peace. Heck, we can even discuss comparative belief systems over adult beverages if you'll do so rationally.

When these media critters throw their PR value and media reach into trying to bend public policy and change laws, they can directly and unduly affect me and are no longer entitled to either respect or a "hands off" policy. I can't respond in kind through the media as I have little access and no one has a clue who I am or why my opinion might carry any weight. So I would require and be entitled to use OTHER methods than public speech to resist their efforts to cause me direct harms. I am certain that many others share at least THIS part of my beliefs.

Harvey lives in a world of images, words, contracts, personal influence and lawyers. But he's seen a lot of blood and killing- In his movies. The people he wishes to affect changes upon  live in a world where things are very physical and blood is expensive, finite in quantity and horribly real, not the  red stuff his production orders up for the makeup and SFX departments by the tank car. Their is a huge disconnect between his world view and what the real world can do to a man. Someone who likes or values him needs to tactfully explain these things to him, before those who don't do so in a far ruder and permanent fashion.

As an NRA member, if they say anything derogatory about us as a group, can we sue the weezers for
slander? 4 million lawsuits might take the wind out of their sails.

Sorry Harv, Sounds like another "direct to DVD" film to me.

Like sdv1949, I hope they spend hundreds of millions on it.

A rotten tomatofest in the making.

Streep gets paid whether the thing bombs or not. She must be asking too much for conventional roles nowadays...

Oh noes. They are gonna sick a Meryl Streep on us. However shall my bruised self-image recover? Sack cloth and ashes.

I really hope John Milius calls Weinstein for a facts of life talk.

266 comments on that site/article and I conservatively estimate that they are 99.68 % slamming Harvey, Meryl, any movie they might make, etc etc. Good comment too, laying out the whole case for firearms ownership, the 2A, and absolutely eviscerating the one or two "liberals" showing their ass.

And that is on a hollyweird site!
