I don't think this is going anywhere. Just a way to keep the gun banners side-tracked. The more they push this silly crap, the more people learn to disobey the rulers, and the better for freedom.
Who exactly is going to be purchasing these so-called "chipped" firearms?
No one I know would even consider purchasing such a thing.
No firearms manufacturer would even consider it as an option unless they wanted to end their business operations. Or, their only business would be with .gov agencies mandated to have these "chipped" weapons.

The "inventor" is from the EU, and it looked like their simulation was filmed there.
Another European solution to a problem that does not exist here.
If there is a perceived problem somewhere, someone will find a way to "monetize" it.
