Praxis: The Bubi Bottle.

Very pricey, but seems to be very versatile as well. Anyone have any experience with this product?

Reviews on Amazon are pretty mixed. Many people say the water that comes out of the bottle has a taste similar to a garden hose, even after repeated washing. Others say it will not stand up, even when filled with liquid.

Check comments at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/b%C3%BCbi-bottle-Green/dp/B00895D3DY/

A number of folks seem to think the bottle material affects water taste.

There is a smaller size: http://www.amazon.com/b%C3%BCbi-bottle-Silicone-Multi-Use-Bottle/dp/B009SAFKR6/

No taste comments there.

Hello Mr. V.

Silicone is interesting stuff, perfect for making gaskets. $25 buys a lot of thrift-stuff.

Other products dwarf the expensive little bottle:
MSR Dromedary water bag (6/8/10L), expensive, but when you need to carry lots of drinking water, priceless. Cascade Designs makes sturdy plastic water bags called Platypus in several sizes. Lighter than Dromedary, not made for eternity, less expensive. Worthy Thrift pick-up.

Stainless steel bottle by H2go, Subzero, or other not "made in China" brands are worth having. Some have Nalgene-size wide-mouth threads which mate to pump water filters. All SS bottles are capable of being clean boiling containers (plastic lid off!) on fire or camp stove and cool pretty quickly (unless you need to go NOW, or it's 106 degrees in the shade and nothing cools). SS is cheap at thrift stores, thrown in with all water bottles. Avoid aluminum water bottles except SIGG aluminum fuel bottles which look a lot like their water bottles.

As usual, you can cut grams with $100 bills by buying titanium. 2/5ths the weight of SS, with some price competition in the market by MSR, Snow Peak, etc.

If you have a little time in Denver/Boulder/Ft. Collins and luggage space (air where there were magazines), check thrift stores. Lots of wealthy folks buy new gear and donate still-new gear after an outing.

I have had my BuBi bottle for over a year and never had a "taste similar to a garden hose" with the water I have put into it. Perhaps it is the water being used by the complainers... I find it doubtful that "many" people are saying this about the bottle. And I also have had no problem with my bottle standing up...This is an amazing, ingenious bottle!!!

I agree with the last post, this is such a unique bottle, I have many and friends who recommend them, it seems as though those commenting about a garden hose tast haven't actually tried them, and would suggest experienceing one.

Not only are they good for hydration, they have so many uses, with the removable cap assembly to wash the inside from the out side, or put your cell phone in it to keep dry while canoing. It is so soft and flexible, rolls up to 1/3 it's size, use it as a pillow while traveling or camping, hot or cold compress, add coffee or tea.

It is always fun to read comments and appreciated, please try one and experience the difference.

The bubi bottle is a favorite around my household. Water tastes fine, the bottle stands up great. It's perfect for travel, I'm keen to get another.

I've had a couple of Bubi Bottles now for well over a year and use them regularly. To the issue of the bottle affecting the taste of water, my wife and I have never experienced anything like that. And, we routinely fill them with various other drinks (e.g., Gatorade, etc.) besides plain water and the bottles have never retained any kind of after taste.

I love the bottle, I never had a bad after taste, and I am very sensitive to funky tasting things . Maybe it is the water where you are located. Love it for travel for my protein shakes.
