S. 649: The 'Young Adult Disarmament Act'

Under S. 649, though, all sales (with a few exceptions for immediate family) must go through a licensed dealer, who would be prohibited from proceeding with a handgun sale to a buyer under the age of 21. In other words, 20-year-olds, considered responsible enough to employ a superpower's most advanced weapons for national defense, cannot buy a handgun for their own.

Lord Haw Haw, suffering from acute butt-hurt over the realization that no one who matters gives a damn what he thinks, lashes out at the colonies.

If the GOA is correct in this statement, then whether or not this happens will depend on the NRA weenie wagon going for a drive...

On or around April 8, Harry Reid will move to proceed to S.649. That "base bill" contains the Veterans Gun Ban, which could send anyone to prison for 15 years if they sell a gun to a veteran without magically realizing he has PTSD. The bill will also contain the Schumer version of Universal Gun Registries.

S.649 doesn't have the 60 votes necessary to break a filibuster on final passage. However, if Reid can get the motion to proceed adopted - and get on the bill itself - he will play let's-make-a-deal to buy the 60 votes he needs. In particular, Reid and Schumer will probably prune the universal registry bill to buy off the vote of Oklahoma Republican Tom Coburn. They may pretend to prohibit recordkeeping by the FBI, but you can bet their "compromise" will contain a big, juicy loophole.

In addition, they may pare it back to gun shows and internet sales, although the most recent "gun show" bill that was offered would effectively ban gun shows.

GOA said, "The point is this: Our efforts will be tremendously helped if the NRA leadership publicly calls on Senators to oppose the motion to proceed, opposes cloture on the motion to proceed, and scores both votes.

"If it does this, the motion to proceed will die. Reid will be unable to move to any gun control legislation. Gun control will die.

"We believe that, because of the strength and fervor of our membership, we are very close to winning this battle - but it would be so much easier if we were both singing off the same page."

In other words, people need to not just lean on their congress-critters to squash this gun grab, but lean on the NRA too, to get them to play ball with GOA, JPFO, CCRKBA, et.al., and not put any NOS in that weeniemobile!!

Otherwise, we'll be pulling a big fat NRA bowie knife out of our collective backside and mobilizing for a 2nd American Revolution deployment very soon.

And if the NRA stabs us in the back on this one, the NRA leadership including Wayne LaPierre should be added to that long list of quislings who will face justice on the day of settling accounts!

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't it ALLREADY illegal to provide a firearm to someone under 21?

The government does not want anyone, except them, to have firearms. If I were in government, I'd probably have the same viewpoint, but I realize government is force and must be monitored and slapped into submission, at times, by an armed citizenry.
